MH-esque top-heavy action game God Eater has just unveiled a PV for its soon-to-arrive anime, bearing its unique visual style coupled with plenty of intense combat sequences, sure to appease fans of the franchise if not lovers of fight scenes in general.

Well personally I would call GE Namco's bad decision for an IP they want to have animated for several reasons.
1) Not SnK per se, but "human VS whatever trying to oppress human society" had been way overdone in recent years as an anime concept(SnK, Terra Formars, Black Bullet, Owari no Seraph, etc), so choosing an IP that came out before SnK doesn't really change the fact that as a 2015 anime, it's not fresh at all. If they wanted to promote a Namco game anime, some other IPs could have worked better.
2) While it still is a good series in itself, the GE franchise still is a ripoff of the Monster Hunter franchise, so getting called on trying to ride some other series' success isn't anything new to GE.
3) GE is a game that the protagonist is player customizable, so the anime would have a hard time really trying to grasp a good "spirit" of the protagonist character that associates well with the players while avoiding from piling all bland shounen personality cliches onto him. He doesn't even have a role as "solid" as Narukami Yuu in P4 and really is just a blank slate that uses a giant ass sword.
4) This anime focuses on the plot of GE1, which not only has meh story at best with very limited character developments, feels largely outdated in comparison to the newer titles.
True that, for most, i personally think that the plot is slow in the 1st game, but it can probably be used for 12 episodes, but many will first think about SnK since it's more known, still hope it can be good...
But i really really think like you about the point 1,2 and 3.

Well, as anonymous said, it's a pattern used and reused these time, but the most known example is SnK. Wall or something to defend the population against the menace, use of the ennemies "weapon" to fight back...
What is good enough is that most of the SnK fan will not ever know about this anime because it probably won't be known as much as these blockbuster anime.(i'm not criticizing SnK fan, i mean, legitimate SnK fan.)
