Revered animation studio Ghibli has received a tribute in the form of an 8-bit recreation of their magnum opus film “Spirited Away“, summarizing the movie in but a mere 5 minutes as it hastily transitions from one scene to the next – whilst making several references to the 8-bit console games of yore.
The video was produced by the masterful CineFix, already responsible for various other 8-bit reenactments of a multitude of films and shows:

Just to be a party pooper, don't these "8-bit" recreations tend to have a few too many colours on the screen for them to truly pass for 8-bit? It comes across as a hybrid of 8-bit (Chihiro sprite) and 16-bit (a lot of the larger creatures).
8b = 256 colors
16b = 65,536 colors
Technically but depending on the hardware you can be limited to only a subset of those colors on screen at any one time, you can use the full gamut if you switch them out though.
This is damn good.
too much impossible effects (opacity levels) and ignored hardware (layers) to be proper 8bits
A NES would not be capable of it but some of the more powerful 8bit home computers such as an Atari 130XE,C128,or MSX Turbo-R probably can come close with some clever programing.
But yes it's like what you'd expect of a ECS Amiga or Sharp X68000.
Well its 8-bit and makes references to 8-bit console games. Noone seemed to claim it being a perfect emulation of those.
don't sexualize the miyazakis.....fuck what I said, more castle in the sky porn.
I must of busted like 1000 nuts to Chihiro / Sen hentai.
lol seeing this vid the first thing I'm reminded of is all the hentai where that fat White creature plows Sen.
wish nes ran that good seems more like 16bit
yeah really that looks way better than games I played on my NES.
Looks on par with Capcom games really.
