In the story route this version of the series is based on, he takes her heart. There's only two VN. Fate/Stay Night, and Fate/Hollow Ataraxia.
FSN is 3 routes. Fate (first tv series), Unlimited Blade Works (this series), and Heaven's Feel (True canon ending, no series yet).
Fate/Hollow takes place six months after Heaven's Feel.

The cut on the eyes was completely necessary, Illya has the mystic eyes of binding, that could had fucked gil big time if he was affected by them, and they needed her heart too, so both acts were necessary.

IIRC, in Fate route Illya uses the mystic eyes on Shirou while sitting on his lap. So i guess she has to be extremely close in order to use her eye

not too well represented on the animated versions but yeah, she actually has deep bonds with the two maids, i mean, she shows being really smart on prior fights, even retreating at the minimum disadvantatge, if she was not enraged the way she fights against gilgamesh with berserker makes no fucking sense whatsoever, she had to be blinded by anger or the entire fight makes completely no sense at all lol

1. You have a story that centers around Death, killing, blood, gore...
2. If you aren't expecting characters dying when you're watching a show about killing people you're watching the wrong show.
Look at this low-life comparing anime to reality instead of just saying it's fiction and move on in life.

Especially because they think, like in the west, that some characters (little girls for example) are meant to never die in any fiction, just because they are cute and sometimes innocent, and even if it's necessary for story (in ubw, it is).
