    • I tell you I never watch deathmatch shows. Especially if cute lolis get killed.

The guro fans can join that line over there. I knew long ago that fate was all about a deathmatch for the grail. And that was enough for me. Never bothered to find out anything more. I don’t want to know/see the suffering of cute lolis.

  • The 2010 movie kind of ruins a lot of this for me. (Mostly because I know what’s going to happen even before it happened.) ((Then again I had the same issue with Fate/Zero, yet enjoyed every minute of that one.))

After they made the Magical Girl Illya Spin-off, I was actually all for the heart-ripping scene from the movie. Kinda didn’t care too much for her.

I want to say that this series did an attempt to make me sympathize with her, and I was beginning to in ways of my own. However, I think a lot of my sympathy was lost when Hercules was beaten down without ever being given a real show of battle.

One of the things that I am able to say with this series up until this episode, the battles were all very close and fairly stimulating. This fight with Berserker was pathetic. They might as well have just skipped these scenes all together and approached it like the movie did, where you came in when berserker was already dissipating.

I realize that Berserker was going to lose the battle, but it would have been far more satisfying if A) Berserker landed at least a few blows before being knocked back (as if to show that Gilgamesh had to actually fight to win.) or B) Berserker would have come across in some kind of voice (like Berserker in Fate/Zero) with an “I’m Sorry, Illya..” Something.

I guess I could nit-pick this to death, but I think that this was their chance at truly giving the audience some kind of satisfying end to Berserker/Illya.

  • I don’t understand why you people insists someone must be getting off to Ilya’s death.

    1. No one implied someone LIKED writing, watching children’s death, Ilya is a character that has to die, it doesn’t imply Nasu jacked off to killing her as much as he may have jacked off to killing Hercules in this episode.

    2. Western medias also have dead kids, namely such as in Game of Thrones, Hunger Games, etc, does that mean Americans also fap to killing kids now?

    3. Japan is a country, as in a place with people WHO LIKES DIFFERENT THINGS, stop acting like idiots and think that an entire country’s population must all like some thing, good or bad.

  • Hey, here’s a fun fact to all those people crying about killing children.

Illya is one of the oldest masters in this Grail War. She’s older than Shinji, Sakura, Rin and Shirou. She just didn’t properly develop secondary sex characteristics due to the experiments Old Man Acht performed on her to mold her into the perfect vessel for the Grail War.

  • lol… all this drama in the comments section over some simple heart wrenching.

VN came out like 10 years ago people… get over it. She TOTALLY deserved it. [Fate Stay Night] Illya was an outright psycho bitch.

Anyone that disagrees needs to play through all the bad ends again. (Hope you enjoy getting turned into meat giblets by berserker over and over again.)

    • It’s Fate/Zero, not Fate/Stay Night Zero, and to add to that, I believe the little girl was still alive when he played the flute with her entrails.

It also only occurred in the manga. It didn’t appear in the anime.

      • manga ? don’t you mean LN(light novel) and wtf rely , well good thing it wasn’t like that in the anime bc that is i don’t know it sounds wrong on so many levels prob seeing it as well is no even funny

  • I find this part very anti climactic. Defeating Berserker “just ’cause” is lame. If Gil was at least protrayed with such a power difference that there wouldn’t even be a fight at all I would be fine, but this is just “holy crap, I don’t know how to resolve this part, let’s throw the douchebag at him and pretend we have tension”. Bleh. Whatever, was fun until now, maybe it picks back up. Depowered protagonists feels kinda pointless, when they do jack shit, can’t do jack shit but are still present at every major plotpoint.

  • lol i don’t know way people are so surprised and ”scared for life” , this hole story was done before in movie format ( witch make me question way they are miking the hell out of FSN , way not make an anime of the sequel maybe ? or the others and there are the source material as well the VN , guess they did read/heard about it or play it , i haven’t rely watch this ep , hell this hole anime but and to people how said it was too tame and all WTF rely ? rely , you want it to be more f**up ? oh boy in what world we are living

    • What sequel?

Fate/Hollow Ataraxia isn’t really a sequel. It’s more of a possible “maybe dream or maybe not” sequence that follows heck knows what route. So it’s more of a bonus chapter for those who want that, rather than a sequel.

      • well it is considered a sequel but yea it is more a ”what if” stuff i guess but it take place after the events of FSN supposedly so it is the closest thing to a continuation , either way my point was to make an anime off it or from the others

  • She was raised to be a monster, experiment of sorts. Thought to have been rejected, abandoned by her father. Taunted by her mothers lasting aura~ Her life was pretty fucked up, and lonely. What makes it sad is, she is young and redeemable but while she never gets to see lasting happiness with her step brother in this route, its kind of bitter sweet to learn the relationship she had with berserker. It was like a Father and Daughter, then Servant and Master. She even showed some improvement and change having an actual nurturing spirit around her that earnestly gave two shits about her.

Her father never abandoned her, there was just powerful magic that kept the mansion hidden from him. He may of been able to go gung ho but he grasped to whatever remaining humanity he had left. His redemption was raising Shirou.]

Bonus: There is some symbolism in the wolf scene if you over think it. Iilya was acting like an abandoned wild animal, hostile, scared, slightly selfish because they only know themselves. Berserker defeated the wolves and broke those chains. Food for thought =D

    • ofc she didn’t is just typical guro exaggeration , that cut on her eyes was rely unnecessary imo , prob the heart ripping as well too but it is an jap anime gore and other messed up stuff must be there right ? i guess

    • ofc she didn’t is just typical guro exaggeration , that cut on her eyes was rely unnecessary imo , prob the heart ripping as well too but it is an jap anime gore and other messed up stuff must be there right ? i guess

        • In the story route this version of the series is based on, he takes her heart. There’s only two VN. Fate/Stay Night, and Fate/Hollow Ataraxia.

FSN is 3 routes. Fate (first tv series), Unlimited Blade Works (this series), and Heaven’s Feel (True canon ending, no series yet).

Fate/Hollow takes place six months after Heaven’s Feel.

      • The cut on the eyes was completely necessary, Illya has the mystic eyes of binding, that could had fucked gil big time if he was affected by them, and they needed her heart too, so both acts were necessary.

        • Okay i don’t know if you are the same guy , i hope so , i will respond on this comment bc i can’t on the other . Thanks for the info , yea that makes more sense now to be close to the target in order to work , so i guess it dose kinda control someone body btw what the hell i keep getting duplicate comments ?

        • i don’t know if your the other one that i responded to but again plot reasons , teh it was an excuse to not be able to use them and eventually lose and die miserably ( since i don’t remember much details from the original anime and all , i assume her eyes are pretty strong like their power what control someone body ? ) lets be serious if she had, many things could have been prevented probably, including her life too but her death is needed in this route btw dose she uses her eyes in any battle prior to this one ?

        • not too well represented on the animated versions but yeah, she actually has deep bonds with the two maids, i mean, she shows being really smart on prior fights, even retreating at the minimum disadvantatge, if she was not enraged the way she fights against gilgamesh with berserker makes no fucking sense whatsoever, she had to be blinded by anger or the entire fight makes completely no sense at all lol

        • and … also bc typical plot reasons and melodrama , gore etc lol but yea i kinda understand and what two best friends ? you that two maidens of her ? i though that she wasn’t all that friendly with them at all from what i remember

        • That part is just gil not giving a fuck lol, gil considers anything not of the royalty to be insects or even lower than that, he needed the heart of the insect before him, so he took it, who cares if the insect is still alive lol. About the not using the eyes immediately, well, she just saw her two best friends completely ripped apart, Im sure she was not on her best strategical moment lol.

        • Ahh okay , had the felling about the heart being necessary somehow for the plot but not the eyes didn’t know about it , thanks still exaggerated imo and ripping her heart out wile she is still alive ? is that necessary too for the plot ? if she has powerful eyes like that she should had used them on him but agai typical plot reasons stuff , bc she needed to die and in a messed up way right lol

    • “Somehow, Ilya’s death felt quite satisfying.”

Statements like these need elaboration, unless you want people to take it a wrong way.

Satisfying as in it was just as or more horrifying you expected it to be then compared to VN or satisfying in malicious way, as in you would like to see same happen to real people?

  • She hasn’t died yet. Gil probably would have ripped her heart out anyway, but i was probably cut due to censoring for the TV version. Either that or she’ll get her heart ripped out but in the next episode. I’m a bit pissed that this episode didn’t show gil ripping her heart out. That would have made it a bit more vicious. Ufotable is making this a bit more tame than Fate/Zero. Come on, even the Unlimited Blade Works Movie was a bit more vicious.

This plays with ones emotions more than being horrifying.

  • OMG!!! This episode ending is so depressing! I know she had to die, but not like that!
Oh and that part where GilGamesh rips out Illyasviel’s heart out,,, I’m pretty sure that only happen in the old movie ” fate stay night unlimited blade works” , and not in this episode.
