The first highly awaited episode of Gintama‘s new season has caused quite the commotion with its scathing opening parody of the now ancient tear-filled outburst of a politician accused of misusing public funds – political parody apparently not being entirely dead in Japan.

This has not been the first time that Gintama has boldly poked fun at real incidents or people – a previous jab at upper house member Renho Murata caused some consternation, but the staff presumably think themselves in the clear this time.
