We have about 16 novels with the MC having a crush on Not!Takane and she over the course of the series falls for him and confesses on the vol.17.

It's implied she got rejected in the second to last chapter and at the last chapter the MC says she likes Not!Haruti because reasons.
Aka no development towards that end.
It would be like having Nisekoi's Raku lusting after Onodera or Chitoge and at the end he ends marrying some minor character like Paula or Ruri because why not?

I won't support any bans towards LN harems but why aren't the otaku tired of this shit yet? MC x Raika was one of the few redeeming parts of the story besides the nice family stuff.

So they really died.
Who, the parents? Wasn't that established right at the beginning? Spoilers please. Who exactly "really died"?
It was never said outright that they died, they were assumed dead but their bodies was never found.
So many fans actually hoped and believed that the parents was still alive somewhere.
Well the way the story was set up and went over the course of the anime, it was pretty obvious to me that they were gone for good.
But thanks anyway, with the info that there won't being any cheap forced character death drama later, the manga may remain on my to-read list.
If the mother's role is voiced by Sayaka Oohara, there's a slight chance she'll die, or is already dead.

At first I thought "wtf, the parents ARE alive?", then the last pictures showed them glowing like ghosts before they disappeared. Hm, not really a fan of such bullshit. Dead people are dead and showing ghosts observing the living is crap, especially in a "realistic" series. Well, who cares.
After reading spoilers of the penultimate volume that Raika gets rejected and the MC confesses to Sora, I was sure the author would pull crap in the last volume with MC realizing that he does "love" Sora, but not romantically, and that he'll get together with Raika. Glad, the author apparently didn't change his mind and pulled through with it. So, does Miu end up with the MCs friend? You know, that cool gentleman guy. I believe he was voiced by OnoD? I always felt these two would hook up at the end.
Hopefully the LN translation continues some day :/
