The devastating finale of popular battleship girl series Kantai Collection has showcased its horde of cute kanmusu continuing to combat the evil of the abyssal fleet in the show’s largest fleet action to date, sure to engage viewers with its intense naval warfare – and bound to have them yearning for more despite being the final episode.
Fans can rejoice however as the final moments of the episode has revealed that a sequel is indeed on its way – proving to be in now way surprising considering the staggering popularity of both the anime and the originating browser game.

There's too many characters to have them all in one season. Tenryuu and Tatsuta(and a lot of others) will probably be in season 2 or OVAs.

Good thing Kancolle didn't follow WW2 history exactly. Otherwise, they will end up tragically like Akame ga Kill.

Really many guys have reason, the happy endings ruined alot this class of series, better put the stupid Dragon balls and revived the other ships lol.
Why? The admiral can already use his credit card to revive them with the power of microtansactions!
Really that ruined this anime, and others, the stupid otakus who cry like babies when see a char die, damm what happend to people today.
The whole last episode felt kind of lackluster with the Abyssals basically just standing there, taking hits and barely attacking while the heroes threw everything at them. What could have been a grand finale turned into a "firing squad",in a sense.
I also wondered if they were too worried to off some of the good characters, but their solution made the conflict too weightless, in my opinion. After all, this is supposed to be a war, and a war is not without casualties. The all happy ending felt kinda cheesy and undeserved.
Of course it can't.
If that were the case, among the main cast, only Nagato and Kitakami would have survived.
Haruna and Takao would be sitting immobilized in waist-deep water in the harbor, and Hibiki would be in the docks, heavily damaged/wounded.
All that QUALITY practically ruined this last episode.
I'm a little confused, so that black rock shooter-ish carrier (which is very cool!) or that loli turned bombshell Airfield Princess is the Kisaragi? why??
There was a theory that the Abysaal Fleet are actually KanMusu who have sunk in battle, so they pretty much made that theory canon with this episode.

That wasn't Kisaragi, that was an existing Abyssal-type.(an Airfield-Hime that later turned into a Midway-Hime)
But, if the writers felt like solidifying the Abyssals' lore, they could bring Kisaragi back in season 2 as a brand new type of Abyssal.
I think it stopped being a theory the moment Destroyer Princess showed up in the game. Her resemblance to Harusame (a Shiratsuyu-clas destroyer like Yuudachi) is striking.

I'm glad I just checked a few posts online or a little bit of info without watching the series. That way I know it was just complete and utter shlock but that's still harmless shlock (although I still think this anime adaptation shares many reasons why it seems to be crap much like Ragnarok the Animation).
It's also not a surprise it's getting a sequel. I mean, everything can get a sequel, right? After all Action 52 had the Cheetahmen which definitely was a... masterpiece and it allowed it to have an "even better" sequel known as Cheetahmen II.

Maybe Kisaragi just ended up M.I.A. or become P.O.W. with the Abyssal Fleet. I hope it will be revealed when Kancolle will make another season.

Here's something interesting. Sancom didnt post the pic BUT if you notice the last few seconds right before the girls return to the naval district, you'll see Kisaragi's hair ornament the same one seen briefly when she sunk back in ep 3...big proof if you ask me

Except the anime did follow a plot... That was regarded as one of the weaknesses of the anime, the fact that Fubuki got character development at the expense of everyone else.

I like KanColle, but i recommend you to watch Junketsu no Maria, it has quality animation with a serious story to tell. It`s the best anime of this winter season on my opinon.
You should be careful, we appear to have a few butthurt fanboys upset at people bashing a badly done cash grab anime adaption. I genuinely can't see how anyone could call this series good. Feel free to downvote if it makes you feel better but most anime viewers in Japan didn't like it much either.

Wow calm down, their reason for liking it and your reason for not liking it is a matter of personal taste. Kantai Collection does have 2.8 million players. For them to be able to see one of those characters be animated means a lot to them. Stop being a punk and just accept the fact the world doesn't revolve around you.
While I approve of my wife beeing animated, I still think the anime sucks for most parts. :P
Not even to mention that there are a lot players out there whose favorite ship didn't made it into the show.
And pretty much all the other long-term KC players I know so far (I'm talking about those guys, who already played the game before there even was the slightest hint that there ever will be an anime, not the people who started playing the game because they saw the anime) don't like the anime and say it's shit. ┐(￣ヮ￣)┌
2.8 million players are happy to see their loved characters animated. I do understand them. But, you know, when someone takes a character I like, and put her into this much of crap... The number of players is irrelevant when the series got such a shoddy treatment with this anime. The number of people who dislike this anime series far outnumber those who do. Kancolle deserved better than the shit it got animated.

No need to go there, don't agree with but knows how a number of Japanese feels and believes.
With all this BS ranted, Japan is cool with Isis-Chan, if they are cool enough to come out with a series where enola_gay_tan
is the good main girl who did way more good then necessary evil, fighting off evil aliens armed with captured Imperial equipments, then am all for the Kantai series fully, don't even have to be a title for Japan-release.
