Personally, this latest episode is not depressing at all, maybe because was expecting it, since already finished reading the manga at least 10 or 15 years ago. Was not depressed even back then.
Or maybe because a lot of much more depressing titles were released since then.

Pretty sure he was referring to Kana. I insta dropped the anime 3 episodes in too after reading manga spoilers that she's going to die relatively early in.
Not that I hate the show just because of that or anything, I simply decided I didn't like that development, didn't want to stay around to witness it, and moved on.
