Eternal anime block Toonami has unveiled a compelling promo for the upcoming English langauge disc release of thrilling space comedy Space Dandy, featuring puppetry and corny visual effects very much in tune with the show’s premise.
The “unique” promo:
The video will likely serve as fodder for further conflict between the strict sub and dub sects – the season 1 set will be available March 3rd.
haha nice
ok, if you were trying to get my money with this corny ad, you have totally…
…succeeded.
It’s kinda sad that adult swim will be getting rid of Toonami in the coming months. Already cut back nearly 2 hours of the line-up and replaced them with American Dad and other lame tv cartoon shows. I say by late June or July; Toonami will be saying adios once more.
better get some info before spreading rumors.
. On January 27, it was announced that Toonami will remove Attack on Titan, Bleach, Space Dandy, Cowboy Bebop, & Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex due to ratings and will lose two and half hours.[66] Though this change has raised concern among Toonami’s fans over the block’s future, Jason DeMarco has expressed in an interview on the Toonami Faithful podcast that he believes the time cut a relief, as the revived block was originally envisioned as, and was originally intended to stay a 3-hour block, as the shorter block was far easier to maintain by Toonami’s limited staff as opposed to the extended version, which he described as “unstable”.[67] On February 14, Aniplex of America announced that Sword Art Online II will premiere on March 28 at 1:00am, replacing Gurren Lagann.[68]
Thing is, rumors are usually the means of being the truth. The guy did say around June or July. Just because SAOII is going to air on there, doesn’t mean better ratings. For all you or anyone else to know. It could be the nail in toonami’s demise. Since they have already cut back many hours and dropped other anime shows. It is not a surprise that the fan base of [adult swim] Is nothing but anti-anime, pro-potheads that only watch the lamest tv shows on there.
Adult Swim doesn’t hate anime. The entire reason they exist is because of Toonami’s Midnight Run.
They hours they cut were mostly the hours of the night where practically no one was watching TV at all, let alone watching Toonami. Those hours were also primarily made up of reruns, since just about every other show they tried to put in those time slots would get its license pulled before they got a chance to finish it (not a matter of ratings, but of business. ALL anime and syndicated shows that air on TV are licensed by their original companies, and those licenses DO expire. Toonami’s staff just have the unfortunate luck that they always get that news from their higher ups at the very last minute). You can argue that Cowboy Bebop was one of their best shows, but it’s been rerunning almost nonstop since 2001, and who the hell’s going to stay up to the wee hours of the morning to watch a show that they could have seen multiple times through before that point? The only show Toonami’s rerunning right now is Deadman Wonderland, and even that was aired only once, and it was over 2 years ago.
Jason DeMarco and the rest of Toonami’s staff have addressed the “Adult Swim hates anime” argument multiple times, and that rumor is entirely untrue. After all, if Adult Swim hated anime, they wouldn’t exist. Adult Swim was partially born from the success of Toonami’s Midnight Run, which consisted of (mostly) uncut anime, and they have run Anime every Saturday since AS was introduced, and AS are the ones who brought Toonami back when they could have let it disappear into nostalgic history.
