Legendary fighting series Dragon Ball Z has become the subject of yet another English live action fan film, supposedly based upon the “History of Trunks” TV special which features androids 17 and 18 – and naturally bearing a multitude of shiny special effects for the “martial arts” segments.

Don't know why you guys hate it... it is a story that is outside the canon, so new by necessity, and the action sequences seemed good and the characters mostly consistent.
Trunks looks more emotional that we know him but he is younger so that is expected....
Everyone is criticizing it for stupid reasons. It's not even a big budget film. This isn't some over the top budget Superhero film. It is really good for a fan made film. They did what they could with little money. Great stuff.
totally agree. the effects are easily believable, the filmwork is good. only problem is lack of backstory for the uninitiated viewer. i saw the android arc probably close to 20 years ago and forgot a ton of stuff.
I'm not 100% on this, but if I'm not mistaken, I think the future Trunk's backstory arc's anime wasn't part of the TV series, but it was on OVA I think it was?

Gotta give the DBZ writers credit-- it takes some serious talent to make a battle sequence boring, and they did it!
i think it's pretty good, ok, not a perfect adaptation, but i think that wasn't the idea either, and cmon it's made by fans, you can't ask for much more.

Why is Gohan older than trunks... in the DBZ episode was trunks the same age.
Trunks wasn't the same age you fucking dolt. Gohan is NINE fucking years older than him. He's 23 during the events of the History of Trunks alternate timeline and Trunks is 14.
Your thinking of Gokus second son, Goten, and that is in the other time line (our timeline). This one is in the alternative future where the androids kill everyone except Trunks (cause he goes back in time).
