Sapporo’s seasonal Snow Festival has arrived yet again, boasting an impressive amount of finely crafted snow sculptures much like years previous – and with Snow Miku’s new design being the subject of numerous works in particular, along with an abundance of other anime inspired pieces.
Some of the stellar sculptures on exhibit, hopefully incapable of causing anyone bodily harm:

You will join the Otaku Empire! Pray I do not alter the deal any further!
They should actually use SnowMikupers... I mean Snowtroopers.
In the Evangelion one, the Eva is awesome but Asuka and Rei..oh God why?
I thought I was getting tired of all things Star Wars, but that tribute sculpture is epic.
Yeah that has got to be the best one.
Oh god, merchandise booths. They're very slowly turning this into another moe festival.
No giant snow penises? Japan disappoints us.
Why is Kyubey’s name written with a hiragana e?
Thanks for pointing that out.
I read it as キュウベス - mistook the え for ス
Ask Urobuchi Gen?
It's just how his name's spelled. Why does your nickname uses the arabic numeral "2" instead of the roman one "II" or the word "two"?
This is katakana, so everything is normal.
Nope, not really. The rest of it is katakana, but the e is in hiragana and it's kind of weird like that.
Yea, right. MyAnimeList says: "His name is written in both Hiragana and Katakana as キュ(kyu)ゥ(u)べ(be)え(e). So the more acceptable Romaji for his name is Kyuubee/Kyuubey."
But why? We have to go deeper and investigate it.
OMG, lots of cool sculptures! :)
Darth Vader looks so damn badass!
The first phrase I thought after seeing theo ne related to Mario was "It's a me, Ice-Mario!" XD
Wheres the Neo Armstrong Cyclone Jet Armstrong Cannon?
Or the Elizabeth slide lol.
Or the giant Hasegawa-san with wings...
Hey look! Our very own Manila Cathedral is there!
This is sad. I'm sure there are plenty more sculpture than what was shown here but several years ago when I saw these they weren't taken over by otaku culture and instead displayed more magnificent art works like castles and buildings that would required days and weeks of work.
Otakus ruin everything.
You're... pretty confusing.
"I'm sure there are plenty more sculpture than what was shown here" - Duh!
"but several years ago when I" - word pattern of an old hag.
"taken over by otaku culture" - culture is not property of one or another group, nor a zero-sum game. If you add to culture, you're just creating new stuff, not destroying the old one.
"that would required days and weeks of work" - as opposed to this, which probably took like 5 minutes each, right? (that's sarcasm).
"Otakus ruin everything" - and that's why you're visiting a website most people would associate with the word "otaku".
Moreover, if you don't like what an artist creates, create something yourself, or comission art, but complaining that the art produced by society at large does not take into account your niche interests displays entitlement and lack of self awareness.
Yet their the only ones making art like this. We Americans should be making those Frozen and Star Wars structures but were just to lazy. orz
