Atlus RPG Persona 5‘s exciting new PV has at last showcased actual footage of the highly anticipated game, featuring battles galore and some staple anime style cut-scenes (which many have been concluding to be reminiscent of previous Atlus puzzler Catherine) – with the Persona fanbase in particular awaiting the game with bated breath.

Should Persona 5 will have anywhere near as strong of an influence as Persona 4, devoted players can likely expect several more iterations of the game and endless spin-offs before a Persona 6 arrives sometime in the next decade – Persona 5 will arrive on the PS3 and PS4 in 2015.

Atlus Japan are a separate entity owned by Sega Sammy idiot. Atlus is being allowed to operate as normal but can use Sega Sammys resources if it needs.
And by the way, the layoffs aren't at Sega Japan or any of Segas internal Japanese studios, more the Sega America/Europe side.
Oh and this is normal because Sega haven't been relevant in America and Europe in years. Sega of Japan however are not affected at all because Sega of America/Europe/Japan operate as separate entities under Sega Sammy.
Sega of Japan have been infinitely more successful in recent years and will continue to make games as normal.

These wont be the only characters. I'm sure they'll reveal more closer to release, especially if they follow what they did in P3/P4 when characters became available to join your party at certain points in the year. The initial 4 characters which includes the cat will probably be the equivlant to how we had MC/Yousuke/Chie earlier on in P4, and MC/Mitsuru/Takabe/Baseball cap dude in P3.

This a sequel to Persona 4? Like, would a new player have to have player Persona 4 to play/understand this one?
Each Persona entry is separate from one another. Persona 3 and 4 are in the same world but the stories don't relate.
No, you should be ok. At most it will use the same world and throw in a few references to 4 but nothing significant I imagine.
iirc Persona 3 has, story wise, little if anything to do with 4.

The Persona series is dead for me after Eternal Punishment. Why would I want to play some fucking high school dating sim? Fuck high school. Occult, yes! Modern Japanese setting, yes! But fuck high school, and fuck dating sims.
