Three new combatants have entered the arena for upcoming Pokemon fighting game “Pokken Tournament“: Pikachu, Suicune and Gardevoir – bound to get eager Pokemon enthusiasts excited for its release.
More details about gameplay also surfaced, such as the inclusion of support Pokemon for assist attacks and an assortment of special attacks called “Resonance Bursts” – and the arcade release will also feature a controller with D-pad rather than a stick.

Pokken Tournament will arrive in Japanese arcades sometime during 2015 – though information regarding an official console port is still unfortunately lacking.
Dammit, been reading too much Sword Art Online and Accel World … now I’m imagining this with full dive support. And wanting it.
Saw this on the live stream. The Westerners commenting there were really upset about getting their first look at human females in reality.
I don’t care about Pokemon, and yet this game looks more interesting than any other recent fighter I’ve seen or played. This is probably what Japan is capable of when they try to do something a little differently, instead of rehashing old crap or trying to be the next Call of Duty.
The far/close range phase shift mechanic looks great. Nice, appealing visuals and presentation. Hits look satisfying. Animation looks a bazillion times better than s♥♥t Fighter IV, and I’m saying that as an animator myself.
It’s a shame I’m not a Pokemon fan. If I’m lucky (and I know I’m not) maybe they’ll take the base system for this and use it for something else later.
where’s the magicarp?
Can someone tell me why the f♥♥k a fighting game for the arcades use a dedicated pad instead of a joystick lever & pushbuttons?
Aren’t Sanwa parts more ubiquitous (and cheaper) than a proprietary controller?
