Main question - which one is better...
It depends on which religion they base their concepts. Buddhism for example, says that Nirvana is something like a perfect state of enlightenment that you get after you get out of the cycle of resurrection.
Thing is, regardless of whichever is better, there could still be plenty of chances for 2 perfectly decent people to come here and get screwed up into being sent to whichever one they don't like regardless of their will anyway(unless a rule is later introduced that 2 people can go on the same elevator).
Like this instance, if pretending that the pair is a perfectly innocent and loving couple and played by their rule of "let's miss all our darts" without any missteps, one of them's still gonna go to hell regardless.
