The first PV for upcoming dungeon romance anime “Dungeon ni Deai o Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darouka” (loosely “Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?”) has appeared via its official website and has also been screened at C87, looking to provide the typical romcom elements along with some clearly RPG-inspired dungeon roaming and a huge missed opportunity for having the protagonist pick up a bunch of hot lamia and harpies.

Whether viewers will be able to witness scenes of the lovely girls at the mercy of foul dungeon dwellers (most commonly seen in eroge) is uncertain – though it may still serve as a possible BD extra, and at least some clothes rending action seems inevitable.

Pathetic? Yes. A typical Japanese male is what you'd consider a beta working-ant. No social/private life, only working around the clock. They are full of frustrations and pent up angst. Why do you think that country has the largest and most productive market for extreme fetishes and a downright mandatory "i want to become stronger" mentality?
By the way, that mentality is a bit different from what you'd expect. Their version is a cry for help, as in "oh my god i want to live a normal life, enjoy my time with friends and family and not be trapped in this neverending work nightmare!". In a nutshell.
According to the manga that minotaur is like 3 times his level if not more so. He should be running scared.

Moreover the anime actually has a RPG plot. In fact, stat-progression is an in-universe thing. So it's expected of the male lead to level up, skill up and gear up to impress the ladies (or else they won't bat an eyelid).
