The highly anticipated (and of course highly controversial) Square Enix RPG Final Fantasy XV has received a new trailer at Jump Festa 2015, further elaborating on the game’s expansive open world feature as well as showcasing more of the colossal foes players can encounter.
The lengthy trailer, also available in the Japanese variant at 2:38 for those that can’t stomach the English dub:
Despite the near elimination of Final Fantasy’s RPG origins, the game does seem to be a marvel to behold in terms of visuals – whether or not the gameplay will prove to be worth remembering is another matter however.

Boys Love and Bishounen SELLS and it IS safe. There won't be any protest from feminist or someone said 'Sexualization of women' in games.
If you sell 'hot and sexy women' you would be considered as 'pervert' or whatever men is labeled with because it is considered 'obscene' / inappropriate.
On the other hand, if you sell 'hot and sexy men' you will be fine.
Society actually will not charge or label you with 'pervert' or anything if you look at or stare at boys/hot men.
So true. Equality right there /sarcasm.
And to make matters worse have guys that give full support for these feminists damned!!
Manginas is the term, they go for the pity sex (see the Zoe Quinn case).
We are steadily moving into the society of Infinite Stratos
Luckyly, nobody has built a women's only mech yet. That saves us from boring male MCs being born.
That last part is so damn true, because you know what happens if even a man looks at another man? The gay community supports that man with the force of 1 million raging bulls. You hit the nail on the head with that one.
Impressive ? pff, i can already see it
the thrilling huge monster vs dude with a toothpick combat
the breathtaking slow as hell uneventful straight line "driving"
The painful, overly exaggerated Asian drama "acting"
Yes, but people will buy it anyway if it has shiny graphics. No need for quality content as long as people open their wallets. Just look at all those social games!
Yup, it was the same back then with FFVII and nothing has changed since then. Except for some people growing up, of course.
You are not wrong but it was a lot easier to accept when graphics were cartoony
I think the worst mistake taken by the FF series has been going into realistic graphics, not only it works against immersion by trying to couple them with cartoon elements with gigantic monsters and crap but it also blew up their budgets waaaay past any healthy level
Gamers might scream for great graphics and all, but in the end the "wow factor" lasts at most 5 minutes, after that they kind of become irrelevant, the game behind the graphics is far more important, look at how well Bravely default did with cartoony 3ds graphics
Woa look at you all cool and edgy
I feel that FF really started to change with FF12. It was still OK with FF12 in my opinion.
It went downhill with FF13...
If they wanted to make it better, 5 things I can think of, which the players would welcome:
1-the choice of the class of the protagonist: warrior-like, rogue-like, mage-like (FF is supposed to be a RPG, even with a "J" or "Action" in front, it's part of the spirit of the serie)
2-The choice of the gender of the protagonist, good for both guys and girls gamers (FF is supposed to be a RPG even with ... ...)
3-If there is romance, the choice between 4 romantic interests: 2 guys, 2 girls (Please more variation in females lead, enough with the kind miko-like girl, I'm not asking for a Jack-like (Mass Effect) romantic interest though it would be a first in a JRPG :D); for both guys and girls gamers (though the possibility of same-sex couples would probably be too much for the japaneses, so let's leave it aside).
4-Since FF13 there is an overdose of technology I think. It's turning Final FANTASY into Final SCI-FI.
5-Too much emo/hosts hair styles for the guys...
Feels a little more like a western RPG (especially Bioware-like) but I don't think that's would have been bad
That would make seven variations for the story (gender & romance), and more variations in the gameplay (player class). That kind of evolution would have been better if they wanted to squeeze the last drops of the franchise.
So... you want to turn JRPGs into western RPGs, you might be looking at the wrong place
JRPGs have always being more restrictive on character selection it goes hand in hand with their stronger focus on story and more directed progression, its what makes them different
Dude, that's basically Mass Effect. If they implement that, people would be bitching 'enix has copied the SAME GAME omfg!! the apocalypse is here!! wahh!'
This series has become a satire of itself over the years.
The glory days are gone
When will people stop caring about this hammy, glorified soap opera series of games/genre in general.
Once everyone that remembers when it was good dies.
Hint: Some people liked XIII.
@ Chen-04
I liked XIII and even it's sequels. I practically
live in XIV in my spare time. I've played them all
including Tactics and loved them all in their own
way. Keep them coming Sqeenix!!!!
Same here. The XIII series was great. Ignore the butthurt nostalgia fans that are too blind to see anything passed FFX as good. Basically, if it isn't turn based, it sucks. These people simply do not like change.
Hard to take you seriously when you have a Pikachu Avatar.
I get that a lot. Though, I don't understand why. Pikachu is awesome. He's like, the ultimate troll. Hate only makes him stronger and he has a Qbey face.
People stopped caring years ago, just look at Square Enix stock price. People like to beat the dead horse, though, so these clickbait articles will keep coming just like the Hirano Aya ones a couple of years ago.
They won't; Japanese are lemmings, whom only like what others like & do as told
Funny, I thought it was Americans & Chinese given the constant shooter games and a love for a 2nd skin DotA
Probably around the same time you learn to shut the fuck up and keep your opinions to yourself (Me to for that matter -_-).
so...without people exchanging ideas and opinions on the internet, internet would be a place only for porn.
im fapping with my right hand, commenting with the left.
I guess Final Fantasy has become less of a game you play & more of a story you watch on a gaming console. Maybe they should just try to get someone to fund the production of an anime or movie already.
You do realize this entire trailer was "gameplay" right?
I wish this shitty fuckjoshit community/genre never existed in this world.
There used to be a time when women were oppressed. That changed, though.
Yea, now men are oppressed.
If you look objectively them yes, they are.
damned white piggu
If this world is not good enough for you, why don't you leave it?
We don't have easy-to-reach, cheap, and reliable, commercial spacecraft yet, moron.
If this game is anything like 12 with all the optional extra stuff you can do outside of the main story then it will be a winner in my book. Action rpg is always a plus for me over turn-based.
What NOT to do: Auto-attack like in 13 which is the only button you ever need to push.
I love how great the game looks, but I know deep down that the game will likely end up with horrific framerate issues and will likely run sub 30fps most of the time.
...And FF falls to the Hallyu wave. Final confirmation of Square Enix's CNBlue fever lol.
This seems like FF12, but with a setting more like the present.
Story of royalty of a conquered nation.
Open world and action-oriented team combat.
I hope it also has rich and ancient lore, like FF12, and a focus on adults (rather than emo juveniles).
Visuals look nice but I honestly can't say I care for anything else in it.
Especially don't want to play as 4 bishy jerks with even less fashion sense than me.
Your trailer can be as "impressive" as anything... but if the core gameplay, that isn't show in a trailer, completely suck donkey balls, like 13, this ain't gonna do it for long time FF fans.
Final Fantasy has always had pretty boys. Are we forgetting Amano's art from earlier in the series? Even with the Playstation versions that started with FFVII we had Sephiroth, Cloud, and Vincent. And that was just the playable ones.
I think people are always looking for the next thing to bitch about, but the amount of whining over the pretty boys is ironic considering that there has hardly been an FF game without them. And the fact that they are all men should come as a surprise to no one considering that FFX-2 was made (I hated it, but that's not the point). We've seen the previous teasers by now and there are women in the series and hot ones at that.
Why whine about it? If we're honest about it, the same people who have always played are most likely going to play anyway. And if girls weren't already into FF they certainly aren't going to start just because of an all male cast.
Grand Theft Fantasy...
Newsflash: Women tend to hate not having female playable characters, so blaming Square of pandering, especially when there have been pretty boys in FF since the dawn of the series (thanks Amano), makes no sense.
Apparently Square's appealing to a new target audience.. the fujoshis
Don't forget R-i-f-t.
Didn't they always do that? First I ever heard of FF was because of Fujoshis... and that was, like, last millennium.
Fujoshis are our sisters in arms.
I'm happy for them.
I am sure they are happy for us too. Like we men love to see some girl on girl action we dont have to deny their guilty pleasures too.
You say this. But this game also gives us Cidney.
