Scandal seiyuu Aya Hirano has revealed the air date for the imminent “The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-Chan” anime via Twitter, with it slated to air spring of next year, also confirming she will be reprising her role, such as it is.

来春放送の新番組「長門有希ちゃんの消失」に涼宮ハルヒ役で出演します。
The official website has also revealed that the original cast of the staggeringly popular series will make their return for this new iteration, including the nearly ex-seiyuu Aya Hirano as the main godly heroine, Haruhi.

I for one never cared about the whole Aya Hirano "scandal". So she had sex with a guy in front of a camera. OOOOOooooohhh. Big f'n deal.
I think she is a great seiyuu that fits her voice perfectly with the character she's portraying. So long as she continues to do the voices for the characters I enjoy, then I really don't care what else she does.
A lot of japanese Otaku like to pretend that their idols are virgin and pure, it's their fantasy. We all know most of them have the D behind the scenes but when that illusion is broken, they rage.
I know people love to bash the otaku, but any famous person who ends up representing a work/cause/whatever in the public eye should be careful of their image.
All that talk about "pretending idols are virgins" is bullshit. The scandal photos could have been of anything that people don't feel comfortable discussing, such as Hirano shitting instead of having sex. No one thinks she doesn't shit, but the crude images, all the disturbing talk that would ensure, etc. do make it harder for fans to enjoy the works she represents.

Well... time to watch it.
Kadokawa's slogan should be "we're Kadokawa, fuck you". I means, who cares if tens of thousands of people would happily spend money a new Haruhi TV series or movie that's actually based on the novels? Kadokawa would much rather fund a show to promote a spin-off manga set in an alternate reality, just because it's still ongoing, while the novel series has been stalled forever.

For the record, Haruhi is neither godly nor the main heroine in this spin-off.
Neither was she in the original series, though. She was the reason the whole thing happened, but the main character was always Kyon.
There is a reason why Nagato's name is in the anime title.
Well, its not part of the story, and she was my least favorite character, so I'm going to say pass. Rewatching the Haruhi series seems like a better option. But if it continuing the show say The Rampage of Haruhi Suzumiya, then I would watch. But I'm passing.

Indeed. As I've heard many people state, it could've worked as a unique little experiment, but it really should've lasted no longer than 3 episodes. Nobody asked for a short story to take up 2/3 of the entire fucking season, and for a lot of people such as myself, this is what really killed KyoAni's credibility.
the characters of the show didn't notice the time loop. except nagato who had to experience the loop 15,532 times. and only those who have seen all the repetitions could catch a glimpse of her suffering.
Endless 8 was someone being a moron and mistaking “8 as in August” for “8 as in 8 repetitions”.
