GumKare: “The Ultimate in Gum x Fujoshi Marketing”



Multinational food giant Lotte has made a humorous jab at romance visual novels with their recent parody, which features their selection of gum brands anthropomorphized as handsome young males – perfect for freshening the breath of the rotten crowd.

Lotte has unveiled a new website for the event and are also hosting a poll in order to find the most popular of their brand name chewing gum boys, while also providing videos of each depicting their “attitude”.

Despite the rather novel parody of the formulaic monotony of typical romantic visual novels, this has not been the first instance of Lotte utilizing its brands of gum to obtain recognition from the otaku community – and perhaps it will not be the last.
