The latest episode of chuunibyou battle anime Inou Battle wa Nichijou has instilled awe in viewers with its rather abrupt drama, as the show’s otherworldly combat takes a temporary backseat – proving to be a rather odd turn for the relatively cheery and comedic series.

Andou was being a fucking douchebag and deserved every single word that Hatoko threw in his face. I feel no sympathy for him at all.
According to the anime's official Twitter, Saori Hayami managed the whole rant from start to finish in one take with no rehearsals before that. If that's not the sign of a god(dess) among seiyuu, I don't know what is.
He deserves to have his ugly face chopped off and deepthroat a sword.
Yep. Guy was being an utter douche nozzle, and deserved a slap or two after that rant as well.
Seeing what kind of people could be her fans she probably wanted to screaming those lines for a long time.
The BGM to that scene was amazing too. The track was beautiful and it was being used oh-so-subtly; that's masterful direction right there.
Even after all of that, I can't bring myself to care about this show all that much. Sure this was good, great even, but it pretty much came out of nowhere compared to how utterly meh the rest of the show has been. But if they keep it up they can make up of it in spades
Uhh, what? What did he do?
its a sign of talent and nothing more.
This anime is ruined all because of those useless boringass pretty boy douchebags.
Sounds like you're just a jealous retard
Sad to say... I happened to agree 100% with everything she said.
Am I too old for anime now?
'Am I the only one that feels that a performance like that is wasted on this show?' Is what I would like to say but I can't 'keep it real' to say that, it just feels awkward.
Nah. That very scene clearly shows why not. Anime is perfectly capable of doing critical self-reflection like this from time to time, like any legit medium of art should.
There's at max one or two shows every season all kinds of "mature" viewers can enjoy wholesomely. It's been this way since the beginning of anime.
This episode was really good!
Wow, Trigger, managed to drop the ball on this one.
Well, if it means that a better project's incoming, then whatever.
Why do anime girls flail their head around while crying like they are convulsing?
Best ep so far in the series, and the preview got me in high spirits too.
get rid of the useless male mc
Dumb question... I'm too lazy to watch this. Can anyone tell me if it was even "good" drama? Or was it really forced an unnecessary? A good dramatic scene can really add flavor to an anime, especially when they come unexpectedly.
The anime is somewhat boring, the MC is kind of a special asshole, but, that rant made me cheers like "there you go girl!..smash that douche face!"
The anime says he has chuuni, but i think he is only stupid...
It was decent actually, there was some small foreshadowing for it a few eps ago, and one wouldn't expect the level at which it was taken.
Writing and execution of the "drama" were all excellent. In terms of writing especially, which seems to be your main concern here, it had proper if subtle foreshadowing (actually, the way it was subtle was genius in and on itself) in earlier episodes, and Hatoko's outburst was believable, relatable and even fulfilling to witness. You didn't really see it coming, but it made perfect sense when it happened.
Unfortunately, the rest of the anime doesn't quite live up to the quality of this scene.
Nooo pink-pigtails! Don't be sad! You'll make me sad! ;-;

He made the nicest person in the series cry?
NTR incoming...
Keep dreaming.
