You know your show has gone to the shitter if cat girls have to be plothole'd in. Next thing you know, Kirito will have been a girl the entire time, and was wielding an actual pink beam dildo.
How is it, "plothole'd in"? The Cait Sith were established as a playable race in ALO back in the first season, and Kirito demonstrated that you can transfer characters between games.
You can, quote-unquote, "Change to fanservice because reasons that completely overwrite the character's originally defined personalities in order to raise ratings."
That does not make a significant excuse, and does not remove -plothole- status. It's like if Sailor Moon could fuse with Luna to get more powerful for a full three episodes--oh wait did they do that? My bad. Guess we're all closet furries, then.

You might almost have a point, you know, if it wasn't for the fact that the anime is based on a light novel series, and that the Caliber side story, including Shinon's cait sith ALO character, appears in the 8th volume of the light novel, published in August of 2011, almost a full year before the first season of the anime started.
Now unless you want to claim the Author has precognitive powers and predicted that the second season of the anime would run into trouble and so changed Shinon's character in an attempt to save it, a full THREE YEARS before it would even air, you should simply admit that you're an idiot who has no clue what he's talking about.
To be fair, the show is an adaptation, and the source material has the same thing happening.
That, and you are blind if you hadn't noticed that race in that in-series MMO before.

Bah, the transition between character archetypes makes sense if the total attitude of the character doesn't jump from one emotional roller coaster to the next--a serious-albeit-flawed sniper to jumpy-and-self-conscious-catgirl is a very clear change.

people were just captivated by the illusion of the premise, the first series has brought. Sao ii is nowhere as popular as the first and a sao iii has now become a fantasy.

The series arguably returns to its roots with the Alicization arc. One thing people might like, and without spoiling is simply that characters can only carry what they have on them, there's no unlimited storage or storing a ton of stuff, it's simply what you have is what you have. It's also Kirito focused with no harem stuff.
I think poster 19:57 19/10/2014 is referring to Sao I deviating from its supposed dark nature. AND TELLING THAT SAO II is neither ALO nor SAO II that begins with all the crap but SAO first half (I think episode 4 -present)
I never thought I would drop a series after watching so many episodes, this was just so bad in all ways. Kyoani does better fan service than this! Lucky we have a good season of much better anime instead.

I know not if it's going to be adapted this season, but “Mother's Rosario” (the next story arc) is centred on Asuna rather than on Kirito.

I'm not sure why you were downvoted for that, but you are correct that Mothers Rosario is next. Caliber is only a short SAO story, the rest of the season will be Mothers Rosario, in likely 2-3 weeks time.

Caliber is just one chapters worth of material. Mother's Rosario is an entire book, assuming they stretch Caliber a little bit, I would expect Episodes 15-17 to be Caliber. And 18-24 to be Mother's Rosario.
Alicization would be better off started as a movie or a long special. Mostly because the first two thirds of the book that start it are in a sense what leads up to Underworld.
