God, these character designs are the worst. If you're going to ignore the perfectly fine manga designs, are least replace them with good, modern, attractive designs that fit the characters. They can't even figure out where the fuck the eyes go on the girl's face! And she looks like a shy nervous wallflower in every picture here, nothing like her personality in the manga.
i read the original manga many years ago and i have no problem with their direction of the anime.
sure slight modification to appeal to a new audience but the main story seems to be on track.

Having read the manga years ago I was excited to hear they animated it, but I find the way they changed many of the character designs to be strange. What was the thinking behind it? Is it just easier to animate them this way? That parasyte in the images above looks like a lounge singer where as in the manga he actually looked threatening before his head became blade tentacles. So I'm just wondering why they have deviated so much from the style of the comic.

Japan finally got away with airing an uncensored penis.
I'm very disappointed in this show. The main character in the manga was mentally a very strong individual right from the beginning. They've turned him into this cookie cutter high school male who can't handle himself in any social situation. It's like the producers think that every high school character has to be like this, so they're all the same. I just can't stand them anymore.
In the manga, i believed that he was a cookie cutter high school male. Till he had to deal with his mothers death. Went from peace loving bro to no emotions, while migi gained human emotions. I didn't think was mentally strong at all in the beginning. And if he was i felt that the other chick probably would have never died if was more of a man.
All the producers in Japan think that all the school kids have a Shinji complex.
