The original mech were more simple. We just got used to then.

Otherwise yeah. Gundam hasn't been good since 08th MS Team. Unicorn is alright. The other mecha anime are all total shit. Uninspired designs and uninteresting/poorly written characters.
Gundam seed intro with some story line of Break Blade about a protagonist being different or unsorcerer but the difference is she was prosecuted too much.
