DMM’s R18.com Nets 17 Channels of JAV & Ero-Anime

Japanese adult mega-publisher DMM’s new English language site R18.com is receiving another boon for international JAV fans in form of access to DMM’s huge streaming video service – which naturally also includes an entire channel dedicated to ero-anime,…
DMM’s announcement explaining the service offers the same streaming deal Japanese users have been using for some time:
R18.com launches 17 adult video channels on their website today. The R18.com channels offer diverse content such as hardcore, fetish, mature and hentai anime from the largest Japanese AV labels. After subscribing to a channel, members can stream and download all of the videos in the channel, up to 25,000 titles.
Channels are updated on a regular basis, releasing 30 to 200 new titles per channel every month. All content is easily accessible through a streamlined e-commerce interface and a feature-rich search engine on R18.com, allowing customers to find unique titles by category, actress, series and many other parameters.
“We’ve received a lot of feedback since launching R18.com and one of the most consistent requests from our customers was for access to large amounts of Japanese adult videos by subscription service. We’re extremely pleased to be able to offer this functionality on R18.com” said Alain Garcia Bariel, manager of the R18.com website.

Probably just to see if there is any interest. It's not cheap to offer a huge range of modern stuff on a site that's not a sure hit. If it gets a steady stream of income you can probably expect more recent titles.

Maybe the site is on a growth project, just branching out to see what works with a worldwide audience. And it might not be just adult material, but unreleased indie films as well. Anything is possible

$30 to $40 for subscribtions to one company's channel. I think they are insane. Netflix+crunchyroll is less than 20$ and I watch a lot more netflix than porn in a week. If it was 30 for the whole thing then it might be a bit more reasonable.

Not gonna work so long as censorship is still in the works. Don't they have lobbyists in Japan as well? Have the AV industry start lobbying for the government to get rid of the outdated censorship rules. It shouldn't be too difficult either as a lot of money is on the line.
