Lady anime watchers have compiled a concise ranking of the anime that can be watched again and again without becoming stale – with the animated film powerhouse that is Studio Ghibli as usual dominating nicely, which may be as well considering the studio is now on “hiatus”…
The ranking, which as usual owes as much to its biased sampling technique as it does the merits of the works themselves:
1. My Neighbor Totoro
2. Castle in the Sky
3. Detective Conan
4. Crayon Shin-chan
5. One Piece
6. Princess Mononoke
7. Yu Yu Hakusho
8. Spirited Away
9. Gintama
10. Lupin III

Watching One Piece over and over.
I just have one human life.
Seriously.. whoever watches One Piece 40 times must be shit out of a life.
Even watching it once is stretching it. There's only so much of the same thing you can watch before all variations of it bleed together into a giant mass of bleh.
Not to mention the god-awful character designs.
Watching One piece and calling herself human.........hahahahahahaha who is the next: i feel human seeing Laura bozzo shows?
I would like to see a list of the anime that made a cultural impact in the industry and it's fans overall (minus movies lest Ghibli clutter the list). I would like to see what besides Dragon Ball, Sailor Moon, Gundam, and the shonen giants steered the course of the manga and anime people like today. For example:
K-On - a show that was followed by an increasing number of slice of life moe blobs
Oreimo: - a show that generated interest in adaptations of novels with long winded titles
Cowboy Bebop - the gateway anime to many westerners, especially Americans
Evangelion - exploring a psychological mind fuck into a weak (by design) protagonist with power.
Pokemon - the first notable cash grab franchise (so to speak)
Thoughts?
How can you miss Haruhi and Urusei Yatsura?
Or Magipoka.
What did that forgettable anime accomplish?
I wonder too. YU needs to be watched a couple of times. Both tv-series and ova`s & movies.
Haruhi 1st season too, if you don`t know which is the real order of episodes!
I guess they mean One Piece movies only. Same with some other titles too, Crayon Shin-Chan movies are fun to watch several times for example.
I think Ranma 1/2 and Tenchi Muyo feels fresh enough when watched once in every ten years or so.
A minor case of serious brain damage is not out of the question.
If you watch Haruhi you're going to be watching the same episode over and over anyhow. No need to bother watching the series multiple times for that effect.
It was sad watching an otherwise entertaining series self-destruct at multiple levels. I wanted to see the story progress, but didn't quite care enough to read the light novels.
shitty scum moeatrd. haruhi ruined anime, downgraded it, fuck that shit and scum moetards
Whatever your take, it had an impact on anime.
Calm down, tough guy.
Haruhi sucked ass, that's why.
Also, Lucky Star was the start of moe blob, not K-on!. Watch your classics man.
We could go even further back. Maybe 2002, with Azumanga Daioh. Card Captor Sakura (1998) also helped the genre grow.
As much as I consider Azumanga Daioh a pillar stone for slice of life genre, moe blob wasn't a thing at the time. It really started to grow around the time Lucky Star aired.
Same thing for Cardcaptor Sakura.
Just because the word wasn't invented at that time doesn't mean it's not related.
Akira, didn't like it myself but it did impact the industry.
Elfen Lied, another gateway to westerners.
Doesn't count, because it only had an impact for the west.
Please don't forget the original "Ghost in the Shell", which met critical acclaim across the board and got the West to realize that many anime are really meant for adults.
K-On itself was not a slice of life anime, but science fiction. I fear many who did not like it missed that storyline completely. In novels science fiction part is the main thing. Yuki & The Great Data Overmind, do you get it, Haruhi haters?
I did not mean K-On, but Haruhi. Stupid me, i should not write anything when i am sleepy.
Whoa.. that took me by surprise till I got to "Yuki & The Great Data Overmind".. nearly got me to finally watch season 02 of K-On xD
Sorry my scribblings were nearly misleading you,
.....the only who make a good decent impact in the anime be Cowboy Bebop the rest, K-on, evangelion and pokemon are only franchises for sell tons of stupid things to otakus who have the taste of a belieber mister.
One Piece? No way!
If your only argument is the length of the anime. I suggest you leave now.
My argument is that I found it boring for far too long. Then when I gave it another shot I picked it up in the Archipelago arc just before the time skip, and that was awesome!
Then it lost steam again...
Why not? It has about 15 million episodes, you can wach It over and over without getting tired because you are not repeating any episode.
After a while they started to feel repetitive anyway, plus I don't think I'd ever want to rewatch it, which is what I'd suspect is the point of such a list.
Anon 12:00, you got the wrong series. What you mean is Bleach.
Uh, what?
One Piece? Seriously? Even the manga is getting boring, fast, can't imagine the anime with the massive amount of fillers they have.
i can watch the following for life and still not get bored of it.
berserk , evangelion, ghost in the shell, raxhephon, perfect blue, lain , flcl, naruto and cowboy bebop.
thats it. to me these are true master piece. and could watch forever.
>One Piece, Gintama
Sure! If I just accidentally have free four years.
Nah. I read the entire manga in 2 weeks. It's definitely possible. But I won't want to.
This list needs Summer Wars.
Yeah I loved that movie since the Digimon version.
Summer Wars won a Japanese Academy Award and it's not even on this list? For shame!
i can watch the following for life and still not get bored of it.
berserk , evangelion, ghost in the shell, raxhephon, perfect blue, lain , flcl, naruto and cowboy bebop.
thats it. to me these are true master piece. and could watch for ever.
Bonus for mentioned Raxephon, FLCL and Lain and while we are talking about ABe's works, go watch "Haibane Renmei" for the main course and Niea_7 for dessert.
Bogiebop Phantom is a mixed bag of good and bad. Technolize I don't recommend, ABe was trying too hard to repeat the success of lain there.
Flcl - thanks for remind me. Watched it 15 times and every round notice something new.
You know Detective Conan has like 700+ episodes... And sure you can watch shit like One Piece or Detective Conan over and over... if you are a damn masochist.
Oh look it's a list..
I dont care about negative points, but thank god Naruto isnt here!
No Maison Ikkoku on the list?
I've never watched Lupin, what's so great about it?
You have to watch it yourself to understand. Try watch Castle of Cagliostro movie first.
