A first-look PV has at last been released to the public for the upcoming anime adaptation of blockbuster battleship-girl browser game Kantai Collection – faithfully recreating the fleet in anime form, as well as implementing some decently executed if faintly surreal 3D for its highly anticipated action sequences.
The 3D heavy and intensely explosive trailer:
Barring BRS level ineptitude the series looks likely to join the top ranks of military-moe themed anime – Girls Und Panzer and Strike Witches coming to mind – though with the air date of the anime now pushed back to January 2015, the PV may only serve as a major tease for the game’s eager fanbase.

I find the people here who are hating this to be funny. What's wrong? You hate this because it doesn't have your average boring harem guy? No Gary Stu trap boys to fap on? No yaoi to satisfy your inner landwhale? KanColle is gonna be a great anime. Deal with it.
You know, I've never understood why so many anime fans want a Bad ass main, yet when they get one they label him a Gary Stu. Then, at the same time, complain about the beta male MC's and the harem he has. YET want a GOOD harem plot that doesn't involve the cliche tsundere. THEEEEN COMPLAIN ABOUT THE LACK OF A TSUNDERE WITHIN SAID HAREM WHICH CAUS-....*brain implodes*

Not the point. The reason why the series is popular is precisely it didn't have a linear story telling structure. The chances are, they are going to mess up on this show turning it into a mediocre Anime.
It's very similar to Touhou in many aspects, including this one. And now you're witnessing what'd happen if Zun decided his girls needed an anime- disaster.

Shimakaze's key art is shown in the anime's main site so don't worry. The choice of characters here is probably to have some variety. 1 battleship, 1 destroyer, 1 aircraft carrier. And the Fubuki class has been called "the world's first modern destroyer."
Anyways they are probably saving zekamashi for later, since the key art for her only came out recently, while Fubuki's was the very first one.
I'd like to think of their movements as being close to the 'more agile than real life' of Sky Girls and Strike Witches, rather than the slightly powered up Ars Nova. IMO Ars Nova is the odd one of the bunch, while this is more in line with the mecha musume genre.
