What looks to be the last SOS of Haruhi Suzumiya has arrived, in the form of a full-on pachinko adaptation sure to induce despair and much protest amongst fans who still awaited a new anime in vain hope…
As previously reported, the Haruhi Hunting campaign orchestrated by pachinko firm Sankyo is underway this summer, and a series of PVs have been released highlighting the characters and their attendant machines:

Pachinko, aside from notionally being illegal in Japan, enjoys a reputation for being a franchise graveyard amongst anime fans (or at least the vocal minority who moan about every new development online) – despite the likes of Evangelion for years having been highly successful in the ball dropping arena.

I liked reading the novels... but then the author decided to go on a very long hiatus and I completely lost all interest in the series.

Haruhi is dead to me. Kyo-Ani fumbled it so hard and one thing lead to another and the next thing we know it's been 5 years since the last season...

Blame the stupidity of Japanese otaku and 2ch people who makes the VA cry and retire.
All this does is show they are readying the waters for new Haruhi material. Guilty Gear released a Pachinko game and the. Shortly afterwards released a new actual game.
This is the EXACT opposite of saying this is the end of the franchise.
Greed killed Haruhi. Kyoto Animations decision to animate 8 episodes of the same shit drove people away. They were clearly motivated by money and ultimately no one but the hardcore fanboys bought it.
You could have easily have done Endless Eight in 3-4 episodes at most.
Did the creators not watch Stargate SG1? Window of Opportunity? They covered an endless timeloop in 45 minutes lol.
The book had only the last loop.
Anyway Haruhi franchise never died. The movie was great and I bet they will get all the attention they want if they make another movie/season. Haruhi have a story good enough for that and Kyoani knows that.
We'll never get more Haruhi, thus its dead.
As far as anime license pachinko machines go, it's hard to top the Evangelion machines. Those are just fucking awesomeness, wrapped in win, fortified with hell yes.
