Atelier Shallie, the latest (and possibly last and even cutest) game of the Dusk series, is set to be released soon, so Gust is making a final push by releasing a gameplay trailer showing off the game’s tantalizing alchemical combat system…
Atelier Shallie is due for release this July 17th on the PS3.
Cutest? I think Rorona (especially Plus) is way better, and cuter…
Dusk series can’t even compare.
I’m very unclear if this is the last game in the Dusk series, I understand that it was first rumored to be a trilogy when the new artist for Atelier was announced for the Dusk games.
From what I understand however the overall storyline outside of the characters for the Dusk series is far from being wrapped up (after reading multiple reviews on the last two games and comments) and might need a 4th entry.
Is there any truth to this?
And the world gave the game the highest praise it honestly could, a resounding “meh”.
I started with rorona and I’ve found them all fun..I.enjoy the rich colors and music most.of all.though
still remember when Atelier games were actually good back in the PS1 and PS2 days, it was nice. Now this series only relies on moe to draw attention.
I know someone who is buying these games and kind of thinks he has bought high quality jrpgs. It’s hard to discuss the difference when the person in front of you thinks it HAS to be exactly how the game is.
It’s like you’ve never played older Atelier games. It’s always relied on moe and unconventionality to draw attention, or you’re going to tell me characters like Marie or Judie weren’t as “sex sells” as it gets?
It’s always been a series about cute girls doing cute things. Ever since it started.
So shut the f♥♥k up before you even try to shittalk a series you know nothing about.
Moe sells. That’s all. Can you make moe? ;p
I have to say, I truly loved Totori and her story’s buildup. It was surprisingly well done for what I expected. I was very surprised by how little she seemed to rely on overt moe elements to be an enjoyable character. Not to say they weren’t present mind you, but she was not dumb as a rock like Rorona, and for the most part was the moe equivalent of a “Why am I the normal one here…?” character.
And it’s still great.
You do have a point. Most niche JRPGs are full of moe and sexualised characters(Often l♥♥i or big boobs). While I don’t mind that, there’s not much creativity with the character designs.
You’re fun !
When you say “back in the ps1 and ps2 days” you mean Atelier Iris and Mana Khemia ? Lol, and Atelier Marie, Elie, Lilie, Judith, Violate ? This is the same with more moe and alchemy than fight !
Atelier become what Atelier used to be.
I have to admit, Mana Khemia somehow feels different. I felt more for that game than any of the Iris games, the way certain characters’ stories just kind of dropped on you unlike any other game I’ve played of the same type really made me like them that much more. Especially the main girl, whom of course I won’t spoil. I have never before or since seen characters react to that type of history that way, the character themselves included.
mana khemia 1, and atelier iris up to 2 are gold for me.
