The Fate franchise’s cutest spin-off is back for more Fateful battles, with the addition of an extra brown mahou shoujo, and is already shaping up to be the top magical series this season for Type B fans, while everyone else will likely have something else in mind…

Type B? Fate Illya is the first Type A mahou shoujo anime in a long while, Madoka aside
As a Type A viewer, I found the first season surprisingly great.
The first season did everything right – likable characters with realistic problems both from daily life and secret identity, good humour but also seriousness when called for and not stupidly and constantly ruining moments, budding friendship that helps understand one another and a satisfying ending, all packaged with a great artstyle and superior voice acting AND it was incredibly faithful to the manga.
I’m positive the second season will achieve the same standards or even surpass the first season. For those who read the manga, the story overall gets a bit more serious and dramatic and we get an awesome villain to tackle down as well as new information and development about/for the characters.
More seriousness. We need the magical girls to get beaten down, squealing in pain, suffering both magical, physical and psychological attacks and resultant pain. Then after reaching catharsis we can slowly enjoy them rising up again with determination to defeat their enemies and hopefully do most of it with love. Less violence from these two, or 3, the better.
And less sexual stuff. Not all of us jerk off to little girls. Some of us like cute young characters because they’re supposed to be innocent and good, while weak. One roots for underdogs.
