what i dont get is how many fucking idiots there are who feel they can correctly judge if something is good/bad generic etc just after watching 1 fucking episode....why is sankaku and it seems most of its readers so full of shit, give it at least 3-5 eps before you start making base judgements...i thought it might actually be interesting given half a chance.

Come on, that was obviously a decoy for the princess...
School kids + Mecha = generic...geez it's not hard.
After watching the first episode I'm a little hesitating commenting on the characters because they keep trowing exposition dialog for the entire episode.
But the show appears to contain a few generic traits, a war where teenagers are the main focus (and most likely will be the only capable and/or willing to so something), while the all adults are violent power-hungry or inconsequential for the story, a super naive princess (that will meet the MC, I really doubt that she died and that wasn't a decoy), etc. The mc is........weird, like many other anime is clearly different by being super calm, obsessed with super market discounts, etc, but the thing that bothers me is that the is only one that notices the missile and just calmly says it is coming to his friends (and nobody else) like it was the most naturally thing.
The first episode gave a really weak impression and I agree with some comments on this post but because is written Urobuchi Gen (I love his works) I'm hoping that gets better.
Main girl isnt dead. The door opened and missile explodes but didnt show the girl was in the car at all.
Actually if you look at the scene carefully you'll see as the missile is coming down it very clearly shows her outside of the car right underneath the detonation and even shows her entire body getting engulfed in the blast.
And how are you so sure it wasn't an illusionary effect it could look like she was right next to the car but be further away as your looking straight at her and there would be signs of her body being everywhere your body doesn't incinerate by a mere missile attack its not a nuclear or hellfire missile.
She could also have a double (though the invaders reactions made that seem unlikely). She'll probably be found on a beach shore or something by the MC without her memories (or with them, who knows).
It's a Gen Urobuchi anime. Clearly you do not know how he rolls.

Sorry, but unless it was a body double, she's deader than fried chicken, son. If you frame-by-frame it, you see her literally torn to shreds by the explosion. ;3

Totally see the copy paste from gundam everywhere in this! I mean how could anyone miss the obvious references to the fact that all the cool gizmo's and worlygigs that Zeon or Zaft or etc..... used came from discovering the left over remnants of a long dead civilization on mars!! that is just like exactly the Gundam storyline just there.
If that is true... then I'll definitely watch Gundam. I'm not into mecha at all but if Aldnoah is generic then good lol I enjoyed the first ep. I'm wondering if there's an apathetic high school student, cause that guy in Aldnoah was a young don't give af badass.
