The terms East and West referred to this way are a holdover from the days when the "known world" was limited to mostly the Eurasian continent. When you hear the term "Western civilization," or more colloquially "The West," it's talking about cultures that stem from Europe, especially the Commonwealth nations (i.e. British colonies), which basically includes the US.
That's oversimplifying it, but that's the general gist.
If anyone is somehow still confused, look at it another way: Words in language aren't always meant to be taken literally. There's a context for everything.

Well, the collection is rated MA15+ because of episode 4, If you bought it in volumes the volumes from 2 onwards are rated G (the lowest, "General" rating)
Whoever does these rating are nuts, games used to get shafted harder since they were banned if they needed a R rating, now we have a R rating and every game coming out will often have one.
