Touhou Otaku “Threatened To Burn Seiyuu Alive”

A Touhou otaku has been arrested for threatening to pour kerosene on a young woman who’s voice work in a doujin video apparently did not meet the standards and style he expected of Reimu-portrayal.

The 26-year-old Aichi prefecture NEET made a series of posts to 2ch in which he threatened by name a 22-year-old part-time seiyuu, saying he would “douse her in kerosene and watch her fry.”

His anger apparently stemmed from the amateur voice work she did for a MikuMiku Dance level CG video posted on NicoNico Douga.

In other posts he made he said she “has totally damaged the character” and “deserves divine retribution,” and seems to have been behind a one-man campaign to defame her and leak her personal information as widely as possible.

He admits the offence, and now faces charges of intimidation.

The case also seems to highlight 2ch’s smoothly operating conveyor belt running from otaku bedrooms to police cells – a post made late in the afternoon of the 14th saw him locked up and national news by the morning of the 16th.
