    What's hillarious is that tolkien based form of 'elves', or elves as we understand them: Lithe, ethereal and beautiful are actually based on asiatic cultures/peoples and popular perceptions of them whether true or not ('advanced' cultures, long history, etc).

    Tolkien's elves had slightly more slanted/sharper eyes and many of them arwyn and so forth had brown to dark black hair. Their skin tone was also inspired part by china doll 'paleness'.

    Of course, they forget the fact that original elves were more like golbins and orcs rather than some ridiculous fairy like creatures.

    Real elves were boggie man that was used to scare small children about child abductions and so forth before the recent Lord of the ring's version was popularized and was given a 'good guy' image.

    No one wants to be around a bunch of insecure, weak people, even as family or friends. That's just a basic element of human interaction - if you act pathetic and ugly, you repel people. People tend to get along better and feel more comfortable offering communication if they feel like the other is someone with a degree of security and stability that can be relied on to carry on a decent conversation at least.

    People don't want to talk to someone who is pathetic and awkward due to their lack of quality as people.

    Because it leaves a weird aftertaste.
    I'd like some story where at the end there's a twist, where the victim somehow wins. Like that episode from Stringendo, where that girl was raped over and over and in the end she threw the rapist out of the window.
    So my twisted self can enjoy the rape but still get that satisfaction from seeing the victim win.
    Seeing an underdog take punishmend and still somehow win in the end makes it so satisfactory.
