On a more serious note, I'm glad they described it as impossible to reproduce the drug so fast. The timeframe the scientist gave is pretty accurate. At least for a very very good lab.
Perhaps, perhaps not. It could have also been something already sold under different names by biotech/drug companies. While the timeframe sounded reasonable as the worst case, it did bother me a bit even the super scientist assumed from the get-go it's something totally new they'd need to produce from scratch, instead of something they could find in a catalogue once they have analyzed and indentified it.
If someone came to me and explained "I have this drug. It keeps girls' bodies from dissolving into a puddle of goo and is somehow connected to alien parasites." Yes, I would think it's something new. Although it would be tragically funny if they found out it's paracetamol or something similarly common.
When we first learned about it, I thought it's an artificial limitation, meant to prevent them from leaving the organization. So, it could be anything suitable, but possibly something that wouldn't cost too much tax payers money, yet something they wouldn't eat by accident.
