Imouto Okashii Mangaka: “They Made The Movie Too Adult!”

The latest mangaka to be moaning about abuse at the hands of the movie studio they signed the rights to their work away to is Mari Matsuzawa, who complains bitterly that her healthy chastity belt manga Saikin Imouto no Yousu ga Chotto Okashiin Da Ga has been “made into an adult movie” and “it was decided after I already agreed so I couldn’t do anything about it!”
The movie opens on the 17th and stars Tenka Hashimoto as the girl who gets to wear the belt all the time, with the film’s content raunchy enough to have secured it an R15+ rating.
Matsuzawa complains that her utterly innocent and safe for all ages manga was perverted into a pornographic monstrosity by the tricksters at the studio:
“Only after it was all finished and the release decided did I find out they had made a manga serialised in a shonen manga magazine [Dragon Age] into an adult movie! And after I could do nothing about it – horrible!
Couldn’t they have consulted with me about the story and explained this before filming? I think they could have. And now it is too late.”
She says that despite leaving all the checking up to her publisher and the contract she signed being adhered to properly, “there is such a thing as etiquette and trust between people which transcends what it is written in a contract” – although the absence of complaints about the sum agreed does at least suggest she was paid properly this time.
Online there are doubts about all this for some reason:

I don't know about the rest of you guys but I failed to see how being more erotic than anticipated is detrimental to the movie.
It really isn't considering what was in it, it is her reputation that she is worried about.

Most likely, the movie will just use the plot as an excuse for endless fanservice without doing the plot any justice. The great thing about the anime was that despite being so explicit it still had a good plot.

While I agree that your analysis is salient, I must state that erotica need not necessarily be obvious but can instead be subtle. Many people prefer subtle ero. I think in that context, the work as presented in the manga would be more applicable. Overt ero is likely to also cheapen the work. While a work with the sophistication of non-hentai anime needs a corresponding 3D counterpart.
subtlety can be a powerful element but the original source material was about as subtle as a kick to the nuts.

I am a freelancer, just like mangaka, she is largely at fault here. She needed to read the damn contract and make certain her perceived reputation was not going to be tarnished. Anything not in the contract should have been brought up by her and demanded an adaptation with G or PG-12 rating. PG-12 is a normal rating for anime in theaters.
Japan has 4 ratings, G, PG-12, R15+, R18+. Each of those ages require an ID check and they are (theoretically) not allowed to enter –even if- accompanied by an adult (unlike PG-13 and R in the US). This could be a big blow if she thinks her stories are all-ages/teen and should have been an obvious term in the contract.
If she thinks her original story was PG-12 she's on fucking drugs.
Well, the manga itself apparently was safe for all ages (how, that's another matter... still don't understand how that happened).. So I can understand she's disturbed by this. Still.. she should have read the contract better, and put in an option where she can deny the use of the IP if they didn't pertain to the style the mangaka wanted.
