Mmm, as per normal the art style catches my eye... Saddly all of the games for this series that I have played... Just never managed to keep me entertained.. though... props to the graphics.
I liked the first Iris games back in the day, but Shallie's got the only waifu that has catched my eye. I dunno maybe its the green hair.
The characters look great, but most of the backgrounds and environments still look like upscaled PS2 graphics to me.
Definitely an improvement over Ar Tonelico 3's character models. If I cared about the Atelier series I'd hope the animation is similarly improved since then.

Atelier games suck since lolirona... rorona... whatever. Since ps3 atelier games are bland, stupid and have no story or motivation to play.
I really couldn't give a shit if the Atelier games are cheaply made, they're fun as hell and are mildly entertaining. Anyone who has ever played a good indie game can tell you that budget doesn't mean shit when it comes to making a good, fun game.

let's be serious, the asian games are generally all graphics and no story, hentai games.
japanese ones, with the exception of a few games that were clearly made with westerners in mind (like MGS, Dark Souls 2), are all generic anime games with stupid stories and ps2 graphics. 90% of their games are ecchi/hentai games.
hyped up MMOs just turned out to be grindfests with people trying them out and after a few weeks or months forgetting about them.

There's absolutely NOTHING original about the Atelier series. Those games have been around since the late 1990's and while the new ones may look somewhat prettier, they still play ECXACTLY the same like the one I still have for the Dreamcast. This series is even worse than COD or FIFA when it comes to (the total absence of) innovation. -_-

All that "innovation" and "originality" stuff is a bunch of nonsense. FIFA and COD aren't bad because they are unoriginal/generic, they are just bad games. If the next Call of Duty was somehow the first FPS to ever come out because nobody had ever thought of it until 2014 and it was a totally original concept, it still wouldn't be a good game. Something good can be repeated indefinitely unless you poorly inject some of that silly buzzword people think they want and fuck everything up. Just being original has never and never will make something good. Good original ideas aren't good because they are original, they are good because they're good. Originality itself has absolutely no value whatsoever.
Luckily not everyone in the gaming industry seems to think that way, else we'd all still be playing Pong today ...
