The world’s foremost virtual idol Hatsune Miku will grace Lady Gaga’s upcoming concert tour as the opening act, with Lady Gaga herself apparently quite taken with the holographic princess.
Gaga revealed her opening act to be no less than the holographic princess herself via a recent tweet:
Gaga’s “artRAVE: The ARTPOP Ball” tour is due to start in May, and with a variety of eccentric and artistic formats likely to be in play, it seems quite likely Miku will appear in one of her signature “holographic” formats – although just which of Miku’s technical helpers will be behind her appearance is not clear.

I guess I'm not certain I understand. We don't know the details, but isn't it a good thing that Miku is bridging fandom gap potentials? Or does everyone think they're somehow special because they know about Miku and they want to keep her from being heard? Because from everything I can see, there's literally nothing bad about her being introduced to another market this way.
Yeah in all honestly I'm glad Miku is getting that much exposure....I mean, this is targeting a pretty mainstream audience.
Right now (in the US at least), Vocaloid is pretty much unknown outside of geeky circles/nisei but this will certainly throw it into the spotlight.

Except this isn't an adaptation. I'm pretty sure she's gonna be using the same holographic model as she does everywhere else in the world, and considering the song Gaga linked, she might still be speaking/singing in Japanese. Besides, there are already American Vocaloids... in fact, there've always been some (ex. Leon), they just never got much attention.
I'm not overly optimistic. Remember when the Gorillaz were supposed to tour as holograms but they pussied out and turned it into Damon Albarn and a bunch of random people sitting around trying to imitate the Grateful Dead?

Accept it or not, the only ones who seem to agree that Miku is not simply an exploitable product or image are the fans, and, like they say, fanfiction is not canon. I know it sucks, but well, facts speak loud on that.
At least be content that the songs are mostly fan-driven, so those will remain, as you say, "untarnished", and that is what matters most in the end, no..?
