The trailer to Hollywood’s Tom Cruise vehicle adaptation of time loop military SF light novel All You Need Is Kill -retitled to “Edge of Tomorrow” for the discerning American audience – has been attracting attention amongst fans of the original, with some even prepared to concede it may actually be good.
The trailer seems to have earned some approval, although there are still the expected complaints about Hollywood taking liberties with the source material from Japanese fans, and the production still seems to be having trouble living down unflattering shots of Cruise lumbering about in a powered exo-skeleton.
The Japanese release retains the All You Need Is Kill title:

Haven’t watched the movie, but…
Despite positive reviews & a box office success, Some (or most) of the All You Need is Kill fans can be a total dick to this movie.
Why? ’cause Hollywood.
God Japanese are terrible with titles.
It has Tom Cruise in it – it will be awful.
To anyone who bitches about “changes from the original”…. This is the dumbest complaint ever. There is no way to make a good movie 99% of the time by straight adaption from the book, comic, play.. etc. etc. etc. It has to be changed in order to accommodate the needs of cinema.
Now… if you want to say, “the changes they made were poor decisions because (anything but it is a change from the original) of other related scenes and character choices included in the movie itself…etc. etc,” then go ahead.
Basically… judge the film only by what it contains.
Final Note. Yes, many films these days are garbage…
“May not be Bad” doesn’t mean it will be Good.
