ok, they changed saegusa and erika/mizuki intro. They completely cut down why mizuki choosed to sit there....it became very artificial. The way saegusa intro became, it didn't showed her personality at all too. Mikihiko and Haruka intro was time skipped, but it can still be showed in a flashback later on. Explanation about almost everything was cutted.
But even with all this, it's still looking good. Look's like it will be turning into a waaay better adaptation than the last work of madhouse with lns (mahou sensou).

part of it is for scenes beeing cuted out/changed from the original (light novel). Saegusa, Erika and Mizuki intro were very different in the ln. You can read all the novels in "baka tsuki"
i was very skeptical about the show at first, the first half only garnered about 45% of my attention. The latter half with the discrimination and magic action took that upto 80%ish. Needless to say, for a pilot episode, it certainly roused my interest for more.
Very much so, Its a shame it ended on a cliffhanger for EP 2. I do hope Mr.Big brother does have magical powers and is just lying about being "Normal"
Main guy was made to be a living weapon. He can crush any magic also, but he paid a heavy price for it - he don't have almost any emotions, since that part of his brain was remade to process magic calculations, so he can't even be angry about it, or hate the people, who did this to him - in a sense he lost most of what makes him human. That's quite harsh.

the last scene of the ending shows ichijou masaki, with imply that they will adapt until vol4 of the ln. At first, it maked me uneased, but when i searched for information, it's supposed to be a 26 chapters anime. So it can end up beeing exactly what you expected!
It will also cover some stories from vol5, like the chapter of the beach before the competition, mb some others.

The light novels were fun until it became apparent that the MC just steamrolls just about all of his opponents. There was never sense of danger and risks. Which became quite dull.
Also, pretty much all the Korean and Chinese characters in the story are evil. So yeah... It's from one of those authors.
Not really. I'm Chinese(Hongkonger), and I didn't get that nationalism vibe at all while reading the novels. People just assume offense way too quickly.
There is no "evil" in this story. Just people with interests. And I disagree about there not being tension, because the tension comes from the MC himself, and part of the fun is seeing how the world reacts to and deals with his existence.

The chinese troops are descripted as militarys doing their jobs in times of war, in the same fashion as japan's "jsdf" and usna's "stars". They are as merciless and underhanded as each other.
Zhou, Saegusa Koichi,Yotsuba Maya, Raymond Sage Clark and Kudou Retsu can all be seen as people ploting behind the scenes...so it's more like there more "evil" people in japan than in other places.
Plus, in vol 11 it's said they will use the momentum of yokohama incident to press foward, sending Itsuwa Mio to the fronts. It's not like japan is a "pacefull country that don't agress anyone" there.
