Shingeki no Kyojin Movie Nets Battleship Island & Haruma Miura

The highly awaited live action adaptation of massively popular anime phenomenon Shingeki no Kyojin has revealed Hashima Island as one of its prime filming locations, now rather famously known as Battleship Island (“Gunkan-jima”) for its ruinous silhouette, along with svelte star Haruma Miura as oEren Yeager.
The mining town, distinguished for being packed onto a tiny island, was abandoned in the seventies and since accrued some fame as a premier urban exploration tourist venue, eventually winding up in the James Bond movie Skyfall.
How much of the movie will be set on the island – which is some what at odds with the period and visual design of the original work – is not clear.

Vengeful protagonist Eren Yeager’s live action equivalent has been determined to be none other than Haruma Miura, an actor and J-pop star known for appearances in such classics as Crows Zero II, Gokusen, Kimi ni Todoke and Bloody Monday.
The Shingeki no Kyojin movie is slated for a 2015 release – though yet there is still no further information regarding a 2nd season, probably the main priority of fans.

It always annoys me when the movie industry choose actors without taking in consideration the characters. At least Japan have the excuse of not having many good actors fluent in Japanese.

To be fair, they don't exactly have the resources to hire actors from the appropriate backgrounds.
None of these places look even remotely similar to what is being shown in the manga or anime. They could probably achieve an authentic look if they'd work together with international movie-making associations and film some scenes in historically preserved villages in Germany/France.
But japs are afraid of Europeans, so they can't do that.
I think problem here is budget.

This makes me a bit worried, in Attack on Titan they make PERFECTLY CLEAR that Mikasa is the last Asian. so I was hoping that they would go for european or american actors for the rest of the cast.
