The third epic chapter in the Madoka Magica movie series has recently found its way onto Blu-ray, giving Madoka fans the privilege of witnessing it in the comfort of their Madocchi-shrines should they have missed the theatrical showings – or for the pleasure of possessing it as a collector’s item, considering the movie even managed an academy award.
As an immaculate blockbuster anime movie rather than one of Shaft’s charmingly rushed “beta-on-TV” offerings there is not much in the way of Shafting evident:

Homura did nothing wrong.
It's such an amazing movie. Didn't come to Singapore like the first two, but had the pleasure, nay, honor of watching it in cinemas in Japan during my homestay program.
Sad that I won't be able to get ahold of this BD till the end of the month as it's bundled together with all my other April orders.
the 3rd movie came to singapore for a limited screening on 8 and 9 feb. i believe genesis frontier people brought it over from aniplexUSA. because it was the US version with subs and ElevenArts studio.
anyway, i watched it in raw in ikebukuro while i was there for comiket85 winter. and also watched it for all Singapore screenings (there were 4).
for more details you can pm me.
Homura did nothing wrong.
Mami's Mamis did something right.
Just watched it and wow... It is awesome although I'm not sure about the direction they are taking.
So best case would be Season 2 next year I guess.
That's how it always starts.... OOOH! and AAAH! Then comes the running... and the screaming...
fucking charlotte
sounds like a good idea to me
I rather they never released any Madoka anime anymore. This ending is awesome and fitting, and I love the tears of disappointment it has produced.
Homura just wanted her hat, that so much to ask?
Her hat is her friend, it helps her relax.
The ending was a blatant sequel hook, which is a bad thing when there's no actual sequel announced. Leaving things hanging is always disappointing. Also, I'm not sure how you can up the ante after this finale and still remain original and interesting.
Still, overall it was a great experience -- it could have just ended 15 minutes early without losing anything except a whole lot of complications.
Note that I'm not complaining about the direction the ending took, per se, just the fact that there was no closure to be had.
How do you make a sequel to a story where two gods control the universe forever? About them playing scrabble?
Scrabble for eternal power!
Nah, it's not a sequel hook unless you want to see it that way. I rather they ended it with the third movie and keep the dark, despairing tone that has been present throughout the whole series than do some lame-ass nice ending for everyone. That's not what Madoka is about.
Suffer you filthy A types! Your favorite show is now basically a slice of life moeblob.
Suffer what? A slice of life spinoff was planned before Madoka even ended. Let me guess, you were one of those f-a-g-s that didn't watch Madoka til everyone told you it was good or only watches dubs.
Madoka TV sucks, though.
You suck, though
You haven't watched the whole movie, huh? This article didn't show anything from the second part of the movie ;)
DAT MAMI <3
Best character <3
WHY CAN'T THIS MADUKA SHIT JUST DIE ALREADY!!!!!
0/10
And it's "Madoka", not "Maduka".
"WHY CAN'T THIS MADUKA BE REAL ALREADY"!!!!!
that's better
Maduka is the slang "derogatory" term for it.
who dies this time

All of us. this Maduka shit SUCKS!
Best anime ever <3
Animu doesn't even come to best if it doesn't have any yuri in it.
pre-ordered as soon as it was out. Can't wait to receive it. :)
There weren't many EXTREME frame changes like there have been in the past, but I most definitely have noticed some HUGE differences between the theater run and the BD version. The end scene before the credits has an unidentifiable object floating in the sky, which adds a strange abstract quality to it. There's now painting on the walls of an ending screenshot. There are tints in some scenes, new patterns added to attack visuals, changes in some of the runes (to correct their German), and even some minor animation changes in the bath-towel scene, of all things.
Also, Homura doesn't move her mouth when she says, "AI YO" anymore... ):
So it was Shafted enough to be called "shafting."
I also have suspicions of a scene that was added into the Western theater run, which I saw, but changed again in the BD release.
The AI YO part really stood out to me because of that very change. I don't know why they changed it, it looked creepy as fuck and fitted so well with the situation. I'm getting that camrip I saw a while ago, some of these changes seem unnecessary in my opinion.
CAKE CAKE!
I AM NOT THE CAKE, I AM THE RASPBERRY!
Such an epic movie... many people lost theri shit at the ending tho... true WTF^10th power those last 30 minutes they is...
inb4 "Blatant sequel hook"
for the record, the original creator/story writer wanted a no-holds-barred conclusive ending.. but thanks to "Executive meddling" we got a "slight" tease at a "possible" sequel.
With any luck tho, this is the end of it, since any more material would ruin the purpose and the overall moral/theme of this epic show.
Spin-offs are ok, since those are mainly considered non-cannon, but the rest? Yeah executives can go fuck themselves. Money Hungry bastards.
Not enough YURI!
DISGUSTING
Megane Homura is still the best.
Just do a live action (Nogizaka?) movie already
