Fighting game Phantom Breaker, producers 5pb and the hugely prolific Hiro Suzuhira, the lady responsible for designing their characters, have received a fully translated English language artbook release detailing some of their artistic exploits.
Samples from the 112 page tome:
The book is being published by Udon Entertainment and is available now.
WOULD BANG ‘EM ALL
they better give the game to wtf…
lol, so we get the artbook not the game. Well at least 5pb is funny. Definitely better than namcosomething which doesn’t localize anything at all.
This artwork is generic as f♥♥k, why would I ever want to read about it?
“Ahh yes, when I was designing this character, my influences were any bullshit that showed up on pixiv. It was a very complex decision which hair style and tropes I lazily plagiarized, but I’m happy I went with the Plain body type, Maid outfit and this specific copy-pasted hair style.”
I love generic anime characters, that’s why I feel like I was blessed to have all this stuff just in a bit different flavor each iteration.
jesus christ the concept sketches are literally “gothic lolita in white, gothic lolita in black, and generic schoolgirl”
f♥♥k this artist’s/art director’s life
“Lets, never give North America these games but give them the art book” – 5pb
I was just playing a North American release of Phantom Breaker the other day, so not sure what you’re talking about.
He means the main Phantom Breaker game, not the shitty spinoff.
But the Phantom Breaker games actually do get released outside Japan…
