The second season of Sword Art Online has been confirmed as airing in July, finally introducing fans to the Phantom Bullet arc and the world of Gun Gale Online.
SAO II will cover volumes 5 and 6 of the original light novel (now at over 11 million copies sold) – the “Phantom Bullet” arc – which unlike the previous two fantasy-based arcs promises some heavy gunplay action via GGO, and an entirely new protagonist joining Kirito (voiced by Miyuki Sawashiro), all of which seems to have fan anticipation at a fever-pitch.

No, the appropriate question here is: Is it still okay to call it SAO?
All the worlds in said universe are born from "the seed" that was SAO. Also I guess its just easier to keep a franchise going than coming up with a better name
It's GAO
you mean GGO? Gun Gale Online?
GAO = Gay Art Online ?
i hope is not continue last SAO.
Could be boring as fuck
ZOMG that's priceless
God Awfully Overrated
should be called "A Highly Exciting Gun Arts Online then...for AHEGAO sake
*smack*
Itai!
And I thought he is Yuri Lowell from tales of vesperia
Knew Kirito was gay ever since he was crying over leaving his bf in the early episodes.
hey unlike your other heroes like naruto and ichigo , Kirito at least fu*ked with a girl. The real gays are naruto and ichigo.
fu*ked AND spawned a little digital child >.>
the little digital child was already there before the fuc king , know your facts
Idk son.... once the Hentai Doujinshi start flooding out, I am pretty sure it is hard to avoid not fapping at Kirito... I am not gay but I may soon as well be...
I liked the idea of SAO, everyone trapped in a videogame & if you die its over. The first few episodes were promising & the anime had a lot of potential but instead of using that, they cramped everything into 14 episodes. The constant time jumps, kirito being badass from the beginning, random episodes with random characters.
Instead off at least dedicating 100 episodes they rushed through this like the creator of the anime was going to die soon & then they focused on something completely different. (random pervert villain wants to marry my unconscious girlfriend arc)
hmmmmmm..... you must not know how SAO came to be...it was a light novel and the anime is basicly word for word from the novel. the liz, silica, sachi, and other side stories where seperate in the novel but where added in chronological to the anime and they fit very well and show why kirito is the way he is. its true that based on the timeline it could be longer but what then itd get boreing they show you all the good stuff. its a great show and a great novel go read it then watch it or the other way around :P and youll understand. :)
100 episodes would have been crazy. A full season without timeskips, without Kirito being so ridiculously overpowered, and nonharem characters getting development and screentime? Yes, please. Personally, if they're going to do any more SAO, I'd like to see side stories set during the first part that didn't involve Kirito at all.
Log Horizon does a much better job of storytelling and character development despite having a huge cast. I could actually see myself watching 100 episodes of that without being bored.
Sao focuses on shounen elements with kirito as MC, log horizon on the world itself as MC and all the characters are side characters.
Furthermore for any pro player of mmorpg all the explaining would get boring since they are things everyone knows(except for the buying the guild hall, that is not present in any game i played)
Well, it's not like they ever had the intention of making it 100 episode, and that'd also make many people lose interest... Not many would be willing to watch 100 episodes of a series. Besides, I like the way they shows SAO just fine. Some others would also agree with me.
Im not talking about tastes, I was talking about the potential of the anime. The overall quality of the anime would have been better if they had more episodes. The shortness has a bad impact on the anime. (character development)

though i've lost interest at the series because of kirito's over luckyness.. if that's a word hehe.. I mean come on the guy should've died during his fight with the GM of SAO (must be a glitch idk) and getting a "unique for only one player" skills and weapons. Or in this case a very rare avatar which every GGO players wants to have. About his harem luck?....meh
Who knows maybe lady fortune is on his harem as well.
DEATH GUN! his mask is badass
My prayers for rape anime have been answered, now to make an appointment at the rape clinic.
.hack/moe
Now adapt the goverment's plan of using the Nerve Gear technology to create an AI army to take over the world.
Kirito now gave me a confused boner.
Where can I read a summary of the story up until now? I mean, why the fu*k Kirito after being close to real death so many times keeps coming back to those games. I don't have time to watch this shitty anime though.
why does a soldier continues to being a soldier after being in war? -.-
Not if you didn't grad from west point and no need to go to ground zero. With the federal holidays, benefits and healthcare plus the current job market? I wouldn't quit if I'm a solider (full time reserve)... tons of vets are unemployed after they quit the army.
Different people have different feelings anyway. Some people can keep on continuing even though it is some they got hurt by before.
He accepts a request from a government official who he owes for helping him locate Asuna after the events of SAO and Fairy Dance. It's also a paying job.
meaning only 12 episodes, sad.
Is it just me or Shinon's design is totally lacking the tough sniper part she should look like? And her real counterpart looks too cute, she should be average or lower...
Cute sniper? Why the hell not?
Nobody said her avatar shouldn't be cute. But she look more more the martyr part instead of the soldier she is always described as.
Sinon is good as she is... Thus why my favorite character of all in the series.
Only 5 and 6? Can't they do Mothers Rosario too? Even by OVAs? Please..
they should have animated mother rosario instead of that stupid beach crap!
Right now, we don't even have the GGO arc. It'd be too much imo to be asking for other arcs as of right now, where we're just getting into the next one. They might release that through an OVA or wutever After GGO or something, and maybe, Just possibly, even another season for that other arc. Though probably not as likely. Anything is possible..
I think Gun Gale Online will be 12/13 episodes. Having a few OVAs to bump that up to maybe 17-18 episodes wouldn't be so bad. Mothers Rosario is an Asuna focused story, its only one book.
Oh don't worry about it, lag happens to the best of us. Anyway I think anime in Japan is typically 12-13 episodes on average for a short season.
No spam intended, Anyways, we never know how long it'll be until it actually comes out anyways. I'm looking forward to it!
Well, maybe it'll just have like 14 or 20 episodes on normal season and no OVAs at all. Btw the commenting thingy here is having some trouble for me.
Well, maybe it'll just have like 14 or 20 episodes on normal season and no OVAs at all.
There have not been many series that go over the standard 12/13, but those that do usually have the extra episodes in the disk releases. Personally, I was hoping to have a double set like season 1 did. More SAO the better. =P
Yeah, usually is 12-13 episode for a typical short season. But there are some animes with a weird number of episodes, and this Is GGO, a VERY well known and long awaited anime by many. They might wanna increase it a bit and I heard there isn't much story or stuff so it could be like 18 or 17 weird number episodes... Not likely tho, But possible.
Perhaps 3 then? I don't know, seems likely they would want to stretch it out considering they could make more money from DVD/Blu Ray episodes with more episodes.
5 or 6 OVAs seem like a bit much imo.
Kirito's new look kinda reminds me of the protagonist from Tales of Vesperia.
Also, what does Asuna look like in this one? I'm assuming she's still in this season as well? Kirito wouldn't delve into that online world thing without his waifu right?
Asuna doesn't show up much in this arc, Kirito delves into GGO alone to investigate an incident
more so she doesn't go into the gun game only he does so she will look like her out of game version and elf game version. well unless they try to shoehorn in some other chars into the gun game. Personally while I liked this arc it seems like it should be a 6 episode oav if that.
I see.
