Hatsune Miku’s 3/9 celebration MATSURI DA DIVA is over, and reactions are mixed about the two hour plus event, with some complaints from Vocaloid fans about all the amount of time given over to seiyuu rather the virtual idols themselves…
The event began with a rousing Miku music video to warm up the crowd, then turns into a variety show of sorts, hosted by Vocaloid seiyuu Saki Fujita, Asami Shimoda, and Yu Asakawa, with live singing performances by other vocaloid seiyuu Naoto Fuga and Meiko Haigo – although with there being a notable divide between Vocaloid fans and seiyuu otaku and some questions as to just what business a bunch of vocal models for synthesiser software and third party songs have in being identified as Vocaloid “seiyuu,” the event was perhaps not as straightforwardly received as organisers might like.
And in a bid to promote the game this entire show is intended to promote, the seiyuu show off their Project Diva rythmn game skills (or in the case of Saki Fujita, a lack there of…), and finally exit with a final all-seiyuu singing performance:
Then began the main event all Vocaloid fans were waiting for, where the holographic princess descended to the stage to perform a 6 song setlist, including some new songs and past classics such as Tell Your World and The World is Mine:

It still baffles me, why people like 3D idols. Why do these people even pay to see this?
Because. Why not?
Essentially, this 3D idol is a compilation of thoughts and souls of peoples who work on it. I've spent quite a time trying to fit it to mind and now it's clear to me.
It's like why one would buy a BD if he can just download the rip? Now as content becomes less and less material here comes new concept of expressing your gratitude.
Did your ever go to picture gallery? Why one even pay for the 2D? And often the author is already dead.
So you don't have to like products of peoples work, but you have to understand, that for others it may be appropriate and enjoyable to watch these products by their own eyes and even to pay for this experience.
I think you missed the point a bit. Miku is not treated as a product anymore - to fans she's an idol, a person, albeit one without a physical body. Otaku noticed that most of the real idols are as much of a "product" of the industry as Miku herself, so why shouldn't they worship her too/instead?
Also, she will be virgin forever. Win-win.
That last line, made me lol.
The day VR comes true, Miku will loose her virginity. A lot of times. Every single day.
Otaku are just like that.
@19:35 - and then it will be replenished, every single time... well, it depends on what a person considers a virginity to be. "Would you like to have blood turned on? How much? How many seconds in? That will be $35".
It's like believing in a god, only better looking.
You've obviously never heard of Sharon Apple.
it would be a mistake to give miku a sentient AI =p. Thank god we dont have macrosses yet.
I agree soon the future will be ruled by artists like Hatsune Miku, Miss Monochrome and Love Live and the world of music will be better for it.
same people like a hipster carpenter
Because Miku are like "real" singers..prefabricated, made of plastic and full of lies..
just wondering if it's possible to see her pantsu if u're below her or the image will be the same
Just as much as you can when lying down in front of your TV. You can't see whats not there. I think you need to read up on how this whole "hologram" nonsense works. In short, it's just a 2D projection onto a transparent screen.
To be fair, it's not like the diva games had "void's there or it was non existent, there was panties to be seen even if they had the "hentai alarm".
It will be cool if Miku battles Acchan.
To bad there's no chance of a wardrobe malfunction.
I did expect a change of clothes, smth dirty maybe, bit boring like this..
i guess they are the people who provided the voice samples for hatsune, rin and luka? O_O
yes but other than asami shimoda who did a great rin album, the other two have not covered any of their vocaloid's songs.
Actually, Saki Fujita has performed a nice duet with Miku.
http://youtu.be/zcIxD4pP6N4
Its funny though because they've already got 3d like holograms where it would be possible to look under her skirt. Just one problem....its way to expensive to use for events like this.!
The people who provided the voices for the Vocaloids are already largely irrelevant to the phenomenon. And they will continue to be until they are totally forgotten as mere trivia.
They need to get over it sooner rather than later, because they're just embarassing themselves trying to act as if they are the real life counterparts of the Vocaloids.
Hear this, Saki Fujita? You're not the "real" Miku, regardless of the voice samples you provided. Get over it and get out of the stage already, because you're not the one that Hatsune Miku fans want to see/hear.
I never knew that they were trying to be relevant, I mean if it wasn't them, it would've been any other person giving the voice samples. What made vocaloid and its community what it is, is the people/fan themselves, not the people behind the voice samples.
Maybe those are fans too?
my my...arnt we alittle conceited here? So, youre telling me that Miku would still exist without saki? Would snake exist without david hayter? Would Shana exist without kugimiya?
All i see is butthurt fans QQing that their digital divas didnt get enough screen time. I think the people behind the voices should get recognition for their roles and be allowed as such to assume their digital counterparts. Heck, how often do you get to see seiyuu's live doing cool stuff?
This is a promotion for a game...not a full out concert just for miku and friends. get real. If you cant see past that, youre just as thickskinned as every other vocaloid band-wagoner.
as much as i'd wanna thank them, i'd pretty much want my digital divas more than the seiyuu behind them. reason being is that to me, these divas already have their own entity which, with the appearance of their seiyuu makes it hard to swallow simply for the fact that they don't look like the divas registered in my head. what i fell for and supported is the synthetic voice program and the box cover, not the people who made them possible. all in all, it's okay. it's not that i'd see them in every miku concert anyway.
Idiot Vocaloid fan!
It's not so bad to acknowledge the people who gave their voices for Vocaloids. Sure it would be really bad to make Saki dance as Miku for the whole concert but a guest or promo appearance is entirely fine. Vocaloids are collaborations of seiyuu, the people behind the program, the people behind the personas, the creators and the fans. Everyone is important.
If you sit in the first few rows can you still see up her skirt?
If you sit in the fist few rows can you still see up her skirt?
I like the way you think.
she is not 3D, is just proyected in a flat liquid screen, so she still 2D
Dammm serious?, and I thought that LOQUENDO make the Miku's voice.
Pd: Prefer Luka...Good Genes, and not LOQUENDO voice.
XDDXDXDXDXD LOQUENDO...poor miku.
I watched this.
YAK YAK YAK YAK YAK YAK YAK YAK YAK! nearly nonstop. And what do I get for my Patience? only 6 songs. NEVER do something like this ever again Sega.
Pathetic... Vocaloid songs don't even sound good anyway, it's like listening to Microsoft Sam attempting to sing.
I always thought the same, the 3D visual dance and character is so cute but the voice coming from an 8-bit processor :P
There is a plethora of vocal superior programs. When it was launched first time was still acceptable, but now competing as seiyuu diva, no longer makes any sense .......
A horrible voice doing so successfully, it even seems an bad joke to so many competent singers ..
let's see any other singer that has 200+ composers.
it's not about the voice, it's about the theory.
any other idol, she has to have her personality, her style, her manager, her agency, her scandal. being in the public eye eventually breaks her or warps her into a mess.
miku is an empty slate. other than the basic character design, artists and composers have 100% freedom to mold her to whatever they want.
livetune - electonic
oster project - jazz
164 - metal
sasakure uk - chiptune
mitchiem - top10 quality pop
wowaka - wtfawesomecakes
her art and style transcends preference because she has none.
^LOL right. like these competent singers aren't all auto tuned and just rely on face value
maybe actually listen to some good producers instead of deciding it all sounds the same.
Vocaloids are instruments, and how good a song sounds depends entirely on the skill of the producer. Its like listening to an amateur playing chopsticks shittily on a keyboard and saying 'man pianos suck how can anyone stand listening to them'.
No. I've listened to samples done by "good producers" and it still sounded like crap. Accept the fact that there are folks who legitimately don't like vocals "sung" by Vocaloids period.
accept the fact that some people do and in many cases it adds another dimension to the song.
for those who dont like the vocals there's always Utattemita singers on nico who even release cds of their covers now.
But anyone who says the producers cant compose music are just idiots.
Is it rape if she says no?
yes you dumb shit
I think it's okay. The fans can learn more about the people behind the VOCALOID they love. It gives a new fresh air. And soon there will be another Magical Mirai Concert in Osaka, so this could be a warm-up concert :)
except instead of vocaloid and seiyuu collaborate, which could've been awesome, it's just like any other seiyuu concert. WE'RE REAL. VOCALOIDS ARE NOT. OH YEA NEW GAME OUT THAT WE DID NOT PLAYTEST HUR HUR HUR.
Oh yeah, it also feels good to learn that Miku's Voicebank Saki Fujita is actually... a TERRIBLE SINGER (^0^) That makes Miku totally a unique and one of a kind of singer.
yay for fujita saki!
Would bang seiyuu.
who is MISS TAKE, and what does she have to do with any of this? lol
