Yeah it was interesting and felt like anime version of Kick Ass (which is not a bad thing), but then it went crazy and silly.
I still watched it just to find out how it would ended. But it's no longer interesting.

That might do it. Then again, a lot of bishounen guys in shounen anime have been considered to be among the coolest characters. It depends on how well they're done I guess.

The girls have Magi but the guys have Witchcraft Works and Nou-rin, but neither have Maken Ki so in the end I'm still an outcast...
Another outcast here speaking...the world simply dont understand the simple fun things...Maken Ki is easily top 5 on whatever 2014 list.
And yet they say fanservice, oppai, etc is taking over anime, it's all over the place, that the anime creators have run out of ideas and are just trying to make money off of sex. REALLY? Sex might sell like a lot of other things, but I've never seen it sell WELL. Ecchi anime are by pervs for the pervs, simple as that. We're in our own little world.

Don't worry, I personally don't but, there are plenty of people who like that sort of thing. I used to run the Anime club at my university and there was a decent amount of demand for it so I showed things like Ikkitousen. Demand from both genders I should add and in my particular case there were more girls than guys asking my to show it (tho the club as a whole had a 2 or 3 to 1 girl:guy ratio).
Yeah, it's funny how I know more girls than guys who admit to liking or allow themselves to enjoy ecchi anime... I guess not even lists like these can bring out honest stats.

Because the main guy is the "damsel in distress" of the show? A utter wimp in constant need of rescue, while the main girl witch has all the balls in the relationship.

No, that's the actual point of the show, the main character has to ataet out weak, as he is her "princess" in need of protection.
Why can't there be relationships like that? Like a Princess Peach having to save a Mario for once? My girlfriend actually loves the "weak" ecchi anime protagonists that so many guys seem to hate on. She thinks they're cute. She say's they're shy and "tender" but try to be tough when the opportunity arises.
There can, but that doesn't make it good by default. Especially when the "manly girl" goes around acting like her only purpose in life in doting on her man (especially when she still says alarmingly antiquated things like "it's the woman's duty to quietly support her man"). That's just as obnoxious and trite as the genderswapped version and hardly a step in a positive direction.
Nagi-Asu aint high ranked... if this ties into viewers in some way then it's no wonder why original shows can't come and steal the show to pave the way for MORE original shows down the road.
A shame P.A. Works pumps out quality and few give a shit... At least my future CE/LE Nagi-Asu from NIS America is gonna be sweet when I get those in my hands in the future... will look awesome next to my Hanasaku Iroha collector sets ^ ^
PA Works doesn't really pump out quality. In fact they rarely have an anime that feels like they put as much effort in everything else as they did on the traced photos they use for backgrounds. I'll agree they've finally started to expand their abilities, but Nagi no Asukara has a stark lack of levity to it that makes it difficult to approach unless you're into large amounts of depressing angst. Clearly that's not for everyone.

I'm so disappointed with the Sonico anime. I hope they don't make a vocaloid anime.
They needed a competent studio to make it. KyoAni is the only one who would do a Vocaloid anime justice.
Yet we all know that if it were Hatsune Miku with her own anime, she'd be #1 for both lists.
no way, if sonico did this mediocre then vocaloid would do just as bad. Its plot (not PLOT) is just so boring and dry even for a slice of life anime.
Miku already have her own game with herr name as the title instead of Vocaloid. Miku need no anime.
the real question to the vocaloid anime is to whether or not hire saki fujita to voice & sing miku's lines like in miss monochrome or use the vocaloid program.

Depends on what you want from anime. It's not a masterpiece but I enjoy it.
For a Slice of Life, it's just totally boring.
It's no Azumanga but I'd still watch it over lucky star. I guess Sonico just isn't moe enough for people like the girls in those SoLs.
A SoL, doesn't need "Moe characters" to be successful, but Sonico didn't offer anything good to the table.
Sonico herself is not the problem, but the things around her. Almost everything in the anime feels Half-assed and there's no real direction of the story.
I just watch it to see sonico in motion, lol. I'm not gonna say it's a great anime but it's good for that reason at least.
I just think that they don't try to make it an interesting anime, more like they just need an anime involving sonico to exist (I think she's some kind of mascot for a company or something, never bothered to look it up).
Even Lucky Star is not even as boring as this.
It usually does depend on how moe it is. If there aren't otaku building a shrine to one of the precious girls in an SoL, then it has failed.
