In what has been decried by more traditional fans as yet another overbearing attempt to expand their audience to include the fairer sex, Namco Bandai has unveiled yet another game in its Idolm@ster Mobage line entitled “Idolmaster SideM” – likely bound to open old wounds with the seething otaku hordes still moaning about Idolmaster 2’s former fiasco.

The game is planned to follow suit with Cinderella Girl’s hugely successful card based “gameplay”, with clear hopes that the combination of mobile, social and fujoshi will be anything but a rotten one.

One problem with that. When the hell does any of the male equivalent of Twilight ever get as popular as Twilight? Look at a movie like Barb Wire featuring Pam Anderson at the height of her career. I don't even play the idol master games, they're just not my thing same as any games similar to them.
The reason this is a cheap attempt at raking in MORE money than they did before is that they already tried to get away with making one game for two audiences with conflicting wants and needs. This obviously isn't going to work and apparently they learned from it.
If they try to sell a game like idol master to a male audience, especially one such as the people playing those game, then attractive dudes aren't just wasted effort or taking away from actual content (in that case several characters being cut to make room for them) they are actively introducing stuff their audience DOES NOT WANT in their game.
And the only reason they do it is to try and get other people to also buy the game. Similar to how Seinen/Shounen magazines sometimes introduce fujoshi series in hope of boosting their sales.
So far this has usually after a short while spectacularly backfired because it doesn't really manage to attract all that much new sellers while driving away their old audience.

They basically try and shove some half assed product down your throat that is at least half filled with stuff not even meant for you that might actually end up making the game not just having less content but worse and they do that solely because it's cheaper and faster for them to do so.

Honestly implying that every single last business should solely run on the principle of earning about as much cash as possible and it's completely justified to treat your customers in general no matter the gender as dirt and you should try to screw them over is questionable at best.
It's the same logic that implies you should slaughter your milk cows and then sell every single bit of it even those that are inedible as sausages because on the short term you'll earn more money.
It's the kind of business practice that ends up hurting pretty much everyone but the top brass of any given company, they're basically burning the entire franchise/company and salting the field making sure nothing will grow there ever again.

I find that most female anime fans are usually cool (really cool <3), but the fact can't be hidden that there are the loud and vocal minority of haters even among our own female anime fan ranks. But the real problems are coming from totally non-anime fans who criticize anime yet haven't really even given it a fair chance to be understood.
There's loud haters on both sides of the fence that love to perpetuate a lack of understanding, intolerance and hatred for each other. People just can't seem to live and let live.
Yeah thankfully I never see these type at anime cons. Perhaps the tumblr crazies never leave the house, based on how asinine their opinions and assumptions are. I hope it stays that way.

@Jungle Evil - yeah, I think the best anime fans are at anime cons! I'm so glad I decided to finally go to one in 2012 and since then I've been to many. I somehow am able to talk to both guys and girls with ease at cons, just like we're all good old friends and nothing more or less. It's great that we represent our fandoms well where it really matters. I guess assholes usually hide behind their computers and anonymity online.
