Tales will undoubtedly be reduced to tears of what must be joy with the news of “Tales of Asteria”, the latest entry in Namco Bandai’s Tales series, and now targeted at the casual-centric mobile platforms of iOS and Android – finally introducing Tales gamers to the joys of microtransactions and social gaming.
The scarcely detailed PV:
The preview reveals it to be a crossover title featuring various franchise favourites, and as a non-“mothership” title its release will likely have no bearing on the next main Tales game.

Just give up on JP game companies already. It's clear that they no longer have any idea what they're doing.
Actually, they do if they're only concerned about profits and cost of development. When it comes to profit, mobile phone apps/games make the most from microtransactions or even ad revenue. It wouldn't even be a surprise if video games are all together replaced by these mobile apps in the future. It's the death of video games altogether. The only way to stop this is if it wasn't so profitable which will rely on people not having some sort of gambling addiction. These mobile apps are akin to running a cheap casino or pachinko parlour.
You stupidly type like you know so much about Japanese game companies. I have always loved the titles that Japanese game companies have created. Go back and play your Xbox One "Call of Booty" and shut the fuck up.
Man, the trolls on Sancom have really fallen a long way...that as not even clever.
Casual games are a good source of income for studios.
Yap, so what's the problm let the company make some extra bucks anyway?
I do not understand these kids now days... I swear I do not! ._.
I dont get it though. these jrpgs dont really need to look that graphicly good on consols or even pc so why go mobile alone?....oh its a card game?.... nope.avi
I'm not cringing by the fact that it's a mobile game rather than it's just another Tales crossover game. There's already too many Tales in-series crossover games and all of them just turns out to have bland system and give or take identical character roster anyway.
Why does it upset you so much? Namco Bandai don't care enough to translate these games anyway. And the dungeon series Tales crossover games were quite good, had to import 2 and 3 because Namco Bandai don't care about us non Japanese.
..."Too"? Tales has been making mobile games since the last generation.
Funnily enough the only magazines criticizing the trend aren't gaming media or even remotely related to them but magazines such as TIMES and Forbes who point out all the flaws with the current microtransactions and concentration on mobile/casual gaming.
Basically what we have in the works here might be a new video game industry crash. They even quoted some guy from a gaming company who basically said "we could wrap up shit and it would still sell" a few months before the entire industry came crashing down.
The only RPGs I would like to see on mobile are Tactical RPGs.
I would have turn into such a useless geek if I had Disgaea on mobile in highschool...
Tales of Miseria.
Social gaming wouldn't exist if people didn't buy into it. But of course there is a market for it. Otherwise why else would a company start a project that only has profit loss rather than gain.
I would just love to see the mobile gaming scene to disappear. People like Review TechUSA praise gaming on smartphones. When you get reviewers like this guy of course people will eat up on it and Bandai of course will jump aboard. It's so sad. Ignorant fellows who settle for crap.
Mobile games are dirt cheap to make, so even crappy sale figures are in fact quite good. It's normal any game maker would think turning to smartphones.
This focus on smartphone gaming is killing us. There is more to gaming than card battles and microtransactions.
What's sad is that these aren't even really card games with any sort of in-depth mechanics. It's just rub this card against another and see whoever has the bigger numbers wins.
But card battle games are easier to program and microtransactions bring in more money.
wait till IRL card battle on motorcycle
Fuck Yugioh!!!
If you don't like it, don't buy it. If it is available for something else than mobile device(s), you can buy it for that something else (TV console, computer, whatev) instead. If you want take it with you, buy the mobile version. There are decent mobile games out there.
I can predict someone say: "Name one". I name Panzer Corps

No one is saying that there aren't great games on mobile platforms. Way to be a fanboy. We're just tired of all the strong focus leaving out those who want a complete game that doesn't require in app purchases to enjoy. If more games came out like Zenonia 1 where the came was a whole from the first purchase gamers wouldn't be so upset.
Let´s hope it´s not another one of those "Social" card games. Somthing similar to the Radiant Mythology games would be cool thought.
At the very least, it's not the only game they're working on. There's Tales of Zestiria for PS3.
Still sad about it though, would've liked a vita game or another PS3/PS4 game.
WTF!!! I'm sad now. ;(
ha-ha, japanese console market is dead
So this make the third Tales of Mobile series with first being Tales of Kizna and second being Tales of Card Evolve.
I don't care about what others said, but as long as there will be more card illustrations from the game, I support the game.
If they don't put too much money into development I'm sure they'll get some profit out of it.
Also please tell me this isn't a mothership title. Please please please.
It will be awesome when this whole mobile app bubble will burst.
zomg they don't give a fuck about the people and only care about money? not really.
Finally introducing Tales fans to microtransactions? I'm pretty sure Vesperia already introduced that long ago!
Why are people so butthurt by this? Zesteria's the new true Tales game coming out on 2015, this is just something of a spin-off.
Because it´s on Ios and Android instead of XBone, 360, PS3 and PS4.
I would be mad if Zesteria didn't exist, but this knee-jerk reaction is just sad. Like people getting angry at Persona Dancing, when in fact we also get Persona 5 and 2 other Persona Games.
Blame the Smartphone game industry in Japan if you want to rant.
