Kill la kill is a nice anime but it is not saving anime at all.Like SAO haters just started telling all that Log Horizon is how a game should be where 90% of its fans don't even play mmorpgs. I like Log horizon , i prefer it to SAO(and i especially love author's other work MaouYuu) but if you look at its setting as a game(skills, spells, summons , equip, monsters etc) its equilibrium sucks.

Still, while I find it fun but mostly it's just going retro... I wouldn't consider it being revolutionary or saving anime. It is still one of the best in recent times.
evangelion has no deep plot. It is just that people like to feel intellectual . If one wanted to find a deep plot in anime(read as brain masturbating/mental movies) as long as he studied philosophy could find it in ANY anime. Either you look deeply at every anime or not, it is useless to pretend to be an intellectual with only famous animes. To make an exemple even in one of the most hated anime in history (SAO) i could tell you all the beatiful references to Platone, Cartesio , Schopenhauer,Nietzsche, Marx only to quote the most famous ones. If you wanna be a real intellectual start to see the deep plot in everything and not just reading the fan masturbating material about nonsense elements.
