Shingeki no Kyojin Season 2 “Not This Year”

Comments from the man in charge of the anime adaptation of titanic anime Shingeki no Kyojin seem to have put the kibosh on any hopes of a second season in 2014 as they are “busy with the OAD” – although he does at least concede they “would like to” make a second season “sometime.”
A Nikkei interview with the boss of Shingeki anime producers Wit Studio stops short of any concrete specifics but does offer some hope – although it seems patience will be required:
“I think we’d like to do a continuation of the main anime sometime, but this year we are grappling with the production of the anime DVD accompanying the limited comics [OAD].”
His use of “this year” in particular may imply production may not even start until 2015, although with the popularity of the franchise at boiling point this would seem hard to believe.

Yup, I'm anxious to see more of course but I'd rather they not rush it and end up writing themselves into a corner by altering the plot in some way.

What that tiny tiger said. Exactly that. This is a good thing. It means the manga author hasn't sold his soul and the entire rights to his work over for quick cash. This will help prevent it going the same filler packed route of Naruto and Bleach, which was exactly what I had feared the most since the anime came out.

Titan will turn into the next Rurouni Kenshin, in which you'll get two complete original seasons of pure shit and a series of original & poorly adapted ovas & movies.

The fillers might even be more entertaining than the main series.
One glaring example of highly entertaining anime original fillers would be Full Metal Panic! Fumoffu. (Those who don't enjoy it should die)

A spinoff w/ Levi.. there's a bit of material for that, I think a mini ova series wouldn't be out of the question given SnK and Levi's popularity

I disagree. The first season only went to around chapter 25 if I recall, and they're past 50 chapters now. There definitely isn't enough for a third season yet but there is enough for a second one.

Make games. No seriously, make a game that covers up till the anime ends. Make it multi-player with customization.
And the one on the 3DS doesn't count. To an ACTUAL console. Not a hand held. You'll make a mint and fans will be diverted from the anime.

Isn't it clear ? He THINKS they WOULD LIKE only, not even is there some concrete will. Moreover, this could happen SOMETIME. Let say it straight: we don't want to say "no", yet we don't think different. Or said another way, "let's keep it for when we won't have any more idea".

Shingeki is on break mainly because Sword art online season two is airing this year and then it will go on break until the project alicization arc is complete.
Plus this allows shingeki to produce more material for the anime staff to work with and keep with original storyline without breaking into fillers. Once that is done we will get sword art online season 3 which will cover the last arc of the series.
If it never comes out then better.

When it comes to fillers you people should realize that they don't give a shit about what we think, it's all about what the Japanese think. Take naruto for an example the fillers had an higher viewer rating than normal episodes. reason being that most Japanese that watch naruto have already read the manga and they already know everything while fillers are something new. while here in the west we think fillers should burn in hell (and they should)
I can take a few fillers here and there. Not whole fucking arcs and not 100+ episodes. Like Naruto.
That really isn't true. Filler arcs have killed certain anime series in the past such as Rurouni Kenshin, Kinnikuman, and Kinnikuman Nisei. I don't watch Naruto so I don't know about that one, but in most other shows filler is just terrible. Characters are just "treading water" and cannot grow or change in any significant way. Filler villains are weak and lame so as not to overshadow the "real" ones. Thus viewers aren't invested.
Of course they don't care what we think. They only care what the money thinks. They are a business after all.
I actually expect AT LEAST a year to pass before the next.
1. Not enough manga material.
2. Let's try new things before coming back to same old shit no matter how great an anime it was.
3. It's important to let some time passed... It gives a certain "freshness" once the anime returns and based on BD sales among other things it WILL return... or do you want to end up rehash quality like COD?

It goes into more details about them but not much (It's worth reading but you may just want to wait for the anime... the manga art is so bad >.< Wish the author would go the american comics route and hire an artist then we could probably get issues quicker too with nicer art

Actually it does. The manga says that Titans are alien clones from the future, made by future Eren from his own cells for the purpose of destroying the world because Eren had a deep trauma at some point that led him to becom a villain. Oh yeah - spoilers!
