Intelligence is NOT the most important criteria in defining personhood. Household pets can sometimes demonstrate greater intelligence than a human toddler or otherwise mentally compromised individual. Yet we do not confer greater personhood to our pets than to toddlers. The most important criteria for granting personhood is a physiologically human appearance.
