Comment on Outrage at Kennedy’s “Stop Killing Dolphins!” Tweet by Anonymous:

so what if they go extinct? over 20 unique species go extinct every day, in no part due to human interaction. what makes dolphins so much more important than these 20 that went extinct today, or the 20 that went extinct yesterday? extinction is only a cause for concern if it is a species with a notable impact on the ecosystem. say, krill, for example. if krill died out, we a MASSIVE number of other species would soon follow. but dolphins? nothing eats dolphin as its primary source of food. it can die out without causing too much harm.

extinction is not the same as death. it isnt a kind of suffering. animals dont go through any particular suffering when they become extinct as opposed to when they die regularly. farm animals being kept in poor conditions, causing billions of farm animals to suffer horrific lives is a WAAAAAAY bigger issue :/
