The English edition of Spice and Wolf author Isuna Hasekura’s lunar economics visual novel WORLD END ECONOMiCA is poised to hit Steam should it be successfully greenlit.
Sekai project are promising to deliver the project via Steam when enough interest is garnered:
As with Spice & Wolf, the game has a strong economic focus:
A three part visual novel set in the far future on the moon, 16 years after humans have begun to colonize it.
A young boy named Haru has been chasing his wildest dream.
His dream is to stand where no man has stood before, and in order to do so he needs capital, a ludicrous amount of capital.
What better place to get that amount of capital by using the stock market?
There are two key rules that govern the stock market.
The first rule: Never take a loss.
The second rule: Never forget the first.
Episodes two and three should follow if things go well.
Much like the now (in no small part thanks to the interest shown by Sankaku Complex users) approved Narcissu, Steam users can ensure the project sees the light of day by expressing their interest on its Steam page.

Gave my vote, I like the art design.
Never bothered to greenlight anything before, but this is tangentially related to sweet, sweet Holo? Where do I sign?
Just throw "economica" into greenlight's search.
But anyways, VN's have had a pretty bad track record with Steam so far, Dysfunctional Systems company basically said the sales where so low they might have to consider begging with a kickstarter for example.
But who knows, maybe a good one can change that..
Nothing against your post of course ;), just shocked if DS thinks that KS is begging. :(
Their company blog, steam forums, twitter stuff, etc., etc.
"To put it simply, Dysfunctional Systems: Learning to Manage Chaos did not make enough money for Dischan to survive as a legitimate business."
Is their blog "statement" and they've responded on Steam and the like, which came down to more of a "We want to be a business, not financed by fans."
WTH, Kickstarter isn't begging, did DS say that, or was it your spin on it? :(
HORO!
HERRO!
"A young boy named Haru"
Haru
Wow such genius inside joke no one will ever know.
I don't get it...
Looks complicated, I like this!
They really love commas.
Rules of stock market :
1. Never tell the truth.
2. See no.1
just give us a third season of the anime
Thanks for report. On my way to vote that stuff up.
I just want more Holo anime :(
And Liru, Magipoka first. Then s&w season 3.
Yet another CapitaliSTEAM
Japanese games for PC. Gameplay. Not gonna happen.
Unless it's eroge. Strange?
B-b-bakaaaaa~!
Visual novels now in Steam?
not sure about the ideas.
This is not a new thing you know, there are a few VN's on steam already and it seems to have worked out well for them.
OPEN DEAL
DIRECT!
Too bad Steam's Greenlight is getting the axe; Valve said they want to get rid of it sometime soon.(they didn't exactly say when) I assume it's because they want t make some type of different version later, but it still sucks for people who won't be able to use it while they're in transition.
Greenlight needs work. They probably look at their stats and say "5 million people vote yes for this game and 100 buy it." I hope they're looking at replacing it with something better, and not just getting rid of it.
For instance I just voted yes for this game. I will *never* see anything about it again unless sankaku or somewhere else announces that it's available. Steam has a message icon to let me know I've got some card or other bullshit but it will not alert me to the fact that the game I wanted is now on sale. It won't put it into my wishlist. It won't even show up on the store page for 30 seconds.
I suspect the other issue steam may be facing is the number of projects that are already for sale elsewhere. They get 5 million yes votes and 1 million get it for free with codes from the publisher, draining steam's bandwidth to download and update it.
Greenlight sucks badly and does a very crappy job at filtering shitty titles from the good ones.
Take that fucking arabic Uncharted ripoff, Unearthed, game is terrible as fuck and it still got greenlit.
I say the requirement to get a game to Greenlight should be to put out a gameplay demo, so people can get a better idea of how good/bad it is and whether or not they like it. Gameplay trailer can make any piece of garbage look like an AAA title and screenshots don't do a good job at showing what the game's about.
Is this The Wolf of Wallstreet The Game? If not it sounds like another "japs writing about shit they don't care to know anything about" story...
This.
Japan's economy and financial market is an isolated special snowflake and as unrepresentative to common world economics as it can get. It is more like a continuation of their feudal traditions where the old samurai clans gave up their swords and now wear suits and ties instead, while doing the exact same bullshit they did before, completely shielded from the competition of the world economy with protectionist measures that makes China look like a libertarian paradise in comparisson.
I wouldnt hold my breath in learning anything useful from this game.
I will just play it for the moe grills.
I can't wait till they have moe versions of Keynes and Hayek fight or something
WEE!!!!!!!
YAY!!!!!!!!!!!
What a dumb name, and even worse acronym, lol
>Stock market: Never take a loss.
This is an excellent rule.
...in video games where companies never die and recoveries/spikes are just a matter of time.
Which could actually be a problem if the game has time limits (day count).
I don't get why it's so important to have everything greenlit on Steam these days. Anyone interested in this can buy it just fine from eg. Manga Gamer since June last year!
yer but i cba to download from stuff thats not steam.
the point is to make people who are not interested to change their opinion
Great, now the distorted version of selfish and canibalistic capitalism in wich humamity is sinking today, will become a fun videogame theme...?
"The only rule: Never take a loss"... huh... This hellish "human economic concept" doesn't take into account some "little details", like "human life", "human happiness", "human dignity", and "human rights". Human has the rights to be happy, they have the right to live even if the system requires to "suffer a financial loss".
Fuck this game, or better yet, be welcomed and fought back with a more civilized and evolved concepto of economics: Human life is ABOVE any "material loss".
If you live in a country where you have regular internet access in order to post such dumbfounding tripe, guess what: you owe pretty much your entire life to the capitalist system. How about you try not being such a massive fucking hypocrite and go back to nature before you bash a game that more then likely addresses the ethics of capitalism much more eloquently then anything you could come up with.
You seem to have some reading problems, I said clearly: "THIS DISTORTED VERSION of selfish and canibalistic capitalism in wich humamity is sinking TODAY".
I'll give you another chance to think what you read, instead of speak out ignorant shit before you digest information, so read carefuly:
Our capitalism system wich build our modern society and way of life, made a bad turn in the 70's with the assasination of JFK, and rise to power of pieces of shit like Nixon, Reagan, Tatcher and the Bush lineage. The american state global leadership in social progress, got dismantled, and the power went to the private corporation that took care of education, madicine and the whole market. The world as we know it today and along with this crisis, was born in the 70's with the arrive of Nixon.
What we need it's the comeback of the real capitalism, the capitalism of the original USA, the capitalism of Henry Ford, the capitalism of Franklin Delano Roosevelt, the capitalism of that nation who lead the world to win the second world war. The capitalism where PROGRESS FOR THE PEOPLE was the goal. The capitalism where a whole nation worked together to put a man in the moon, to put an end to poverty, to win a war for REAL freedom, against a REAL monster.
We need to come back to the REAL capitalism, no this distorted corporate monstruosity we're suffering today.
